Didn't enjoy the loading process on debut at Goodwood last month and was then never on terms during the race; hard to recommend on that evidence even though the filly will be wiser to the stalls procedure this time.
Caught the eye with a near miss on debut at Lingfield at the start of June before running a blinder to finish third in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot later in the month; an effort that easily sets the standard here. Must be considered.
Out of a half-sister to a couple of 5f/6f winners in Listed grade; the lineage bodes well for sprinting; her yard is also doing well just now, so the filly certainly merits a check in the betting at least.
Cost £42,000 as a yearling, the daughter of Dandy Man was slow to stride on debut and ran too keenly when she did pick up the bit. She was well backed that day so feasible to expect more now she's got experience; big improvement still required.
A £5,000 yearling out of a sprint winner on both turf and Fibresand and runs for an in-form yard (notable the dam was also trained by David Evans as a juvenile). Another to consider if supported in the betting.
Stablemate of Hotalena, so the betting will be informative as to any preference between the two; this filly cost €21,000 as a yearling and is a sister to a couple of winners over sprint distances. The draw could have been kinder, though.
Showed promise when finishing fourth of twelve on debut at Newmarket early last month but was never really in contention when upped in grade for the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot. This is a lot easier but she has the worst of the draw to overcome.
A half-sister to a winner in Greece whose dam won as a juvenile before being placed in Listed company; stable is going well and can get one ready first-time out; interesting if she's supported in the betting ring.
80,000 gns yearling whose dam won over 5f/6f on the dirt in the USA. The dam is a half-sister to 7f Listed race winner, Council Member, so likely she has scope to go further in time. Another interesting one for the future.
£52,000 yearling who is a half-sister to winners between 7f and 1m1f; her yard has an enviable record at this particular course. A market move could be a significant clue; needs close monitoring in the betting.
Forecasts
Caroline Dale (4/7), Mahale (2/1), Thank You Next (8/1), Perfect Sunrise (14/1), Shrara (18/1), Lady Roseta (50/1), Fille d'Or (50/1), Anjella (66/1), Hotalena (80/1), Daytaday (125/1)
CAROLINE DALE ran well above expectations in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot last month and will be hard to beat if she continues to flourish and this race doesn't come around too soon. Mahale was also pitched at the deep end at Ascot but should also appreciate this ease in grade; she looks the best alternative of those with previous experience. However, there are several interesting newcomers worth noting in the betting, with the likes of Thank You Next, Shara, and Lady Roseta all worth bearing in mind if they attract strong support.
- Caroline Dale
- Mahale
- Thank You Next
