Dual winner on the Flat since finishing 20L fourth at Exeter (3m, soft) in a novice chase in November. Previously victorious on chase debut over the same C&D and is an interesting runner on his first start in handicap company.

Unbeaten in two starts at this venue and ran well when finishing a neck second at Doncaster (3m, soft) in February. Races off a 3lb higher mark here and is one to note on his return to action.

Admirable veteran finished a well beaten 30L seventh over an extended 2m7f at Chepstow (soft) last October. Market support would be notable racing off a mark 6lb higher than when winning at Newton Abbot (3m2f, good-to-firm) last July.

Lightly-raced since winning by 4L at Aintree (3m1f, good) in May last year and the quicker ground forecast here should suit having pulled up in a 3m1f handicap hurdle on heavy going at Plumpton in March.

In good form last year winning three times and placing five times from eight starts including when 7L second over 3m at Fakenham (good) last October. Absent since and interesting to see how he fares stepping up in grade.

Still in contention when falling at the last in a 3m6f event at Catterick (soft) in January but disappointed upped to 4m1f at Musselburgh (good-to-soft) when beaten 39L the following month. Drop in trip is in his favour.

Built on a promising second over an extended 3m1f at Warwick (good-to-soft) last September when winning over 3m at the same venue on good ground the following month. One to note despite disappointing at Exeter subsequently.

Passed the post first in a void event at Sandown (3m5f, soft) in December but made amends when scoring by 4¾L over an extended 3m2f at Cheltenham (soft) the following month. Strong claims despite a 4lb rise in the weights.

Pulled up on each of his last three starts including over 3m6f at Catterick (soft) in January. Back down to his last winning mark but others hold more obvious claims in this event.

Hampered when unseating rider in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham (3m6f, soft) in March. Failed to finish in his two starts prior to that and it requires a leap of faith to back him on this occasion.

Beaten a head when finishing runner-up in a 2m3f handicap chase at Market Rasen (soft) in January. Represents a top yard and is an interesting runner receiving weight from all of his rivals on his first attempt at this distance.

Forecasts

Padleyourowncanoe (9/2), Bandsman (5/1), For Good Measure (13/2), Brian Boranha (13/2), Minellacelebration (7/1), Doing Fine (9/1), Hepijeu (11/1), The Young Master (16/1), Minella Daddy (16/1), Pickamix (16/1), Anteros (16/1), Henryville (33/1)

Verdict

DOING FINE impressed when winning at Cheltenham at the start of the year and he is taken to register a sixth career success by taking this competitive Listed handicap chase. The selection has won off a higher mark in the past and he has the trip and forecast underfoot conditions to suit in this event. For Good Measure has shown his best recent form on a sound surface and he can put a disappointing soft ground effort last November behind him to claim second spot. Minellacelebration who is defending an unbeaten record at this track can finish third while Paddleyourowncanoe is another to consider on handicap debut.
  1. Doing Fine
  2. For Good Measure
  3. Minellacelebration
