Better effort in 6f Chantilly maidens for John Hammond last year when a close second in heavy ground in November. Should progress for new yard, and one to consider here.

£32,000 half-brother to useful 1m winner Icart Point. Split previous winners when a promising third of 7 to Special Lady in a 7f novice at Newcastle on debut. Entitled to step up on that, and not taken lightly.

Dam is a well-related maiden winner, but even so, this gelding's 210,000 gns price-tag as a foal catches the eye. Gelded prior to this belated first start, and market should reveal whats expected.

Fared a little better than on debut when fifth of 8 in a 7f Kempton novice last time, but that is still only poor form, and he makes no appeal at this level.

Needed experience on debut, and duly improved when fourth of 10 to Esprit Rose in a 6f novice at Leicester last month. Needs more progress up in trip if she's to figure prominently now.

Full-sister to 1m1f Listed winner Stipulate from a good family. Better than bare form when sixth of 13 to in a 7f novice at Kempton in October, and her return can be ignored when racing alone at Newmarket. Will do better when handicapping.

Related to a smart 1m3f winner, and while she has shown only poor form in two starts, she is the type to do better when handicapping up in trip. Watching brief advised here, however.

Hooded for debut and offered little, but much better with the headgear left off when 5L second of 14 to Disco Fever in a 7f novice at Lingfield in December. Well positioned there, and another significant step forward needed on her return to action.

Forecasts

Derdas (1/1), American Entente (11/4), Mossbawn (10/3), Able Grace (7/2), Panzertank (11/1), Caribbean Spice (16/1), Zenaida (20/1), Swan River (20/1), Narrate (28/1), Yukon Thunder (66/1)

Verdict

DERDAS showed a useful level of form in two starts last autumn for John Hammond, and should have more to offer for his new yard. He gets the verdict ahead of American Entente. That filly makes serious appeal on pedigree, which is tempered by concern that she is tongue tied for this initial outing. Mossbawn shaped well when splitting winners at Newcastle on his debut, and he should get involved with normal progress.
