Veteran not the force of old (once high class) but ran pretty well when last seen at Southwell in February finishing second. Place possible but looks a little vulnerable off this mark.
Prolific winner over the minimum trip, including on soft ground. Only beaten 2¾L on return when fifth at Thirsk and looks to have a real chance now given he won off a 2lb higher mark last September.
Three-time Newcastle winner finished fourth there the last three times and while her turf record isn't as appealing he has shown enough on occasions to be rated a contender today.
5¼L and five places behind Desert Ace at Thirsk last time out but AW form pre-lockdown was solid so could step forward now in the first-time headgear.
C&D winner last September eighth at Thirsk on return behind fifth-place Desert Ace among others to re-oppose here. Step forward likely but others preferred today.
In the process of running a solid race at Thirsk on return but hung left under pressure and eventually finished ninth (Desert Ace fifth). Still has potential if and when he can put it all together so not ruled out.
Handicap continues to slide after ending last season in ordinary form on the whole. Would need a leap of faith now first-time out but market support would be notable.

Forecasts
Gowanbuster (16/5), Desert Ace (10/3), Gleniffer (7/2), The Defiant (4/1), Bashiba (11/2), Amazing Grazing (6/1), Kyllachy Warrior (15/2), Economic Crisis (12/1), Robot Boy (25/1)
Although not getting any younger DESERT ACE remains a useful performer at this sort of level and despite having three of these in arrears when fifth at Thirsk last time out he gets 2lb back making him a dangerously well handicapped individual and the selection here. Gleniffer ran well in his final start last term and the lightly-raced four-year-old rates an obvious danger here with speedy The Defiant the sort to soon make all over this trip.
