Age: 5|  Weight: 10-0  |  J: Megan Nicholls |  T: Richard Spencer
250/1

Has shaped ok in bumpers but down the field in two AW runs since changing code and hard to make a case for. Perhaps will do better in handicaps at low level.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-9  |  J: Theodore Ladd |  T: M Appleby
250/1

Cost just 800 gns at Newmarket sales in January; 150-1 and finished last of seven beaten 19L on debut at Beverley last week; she should be so lucky to win this on that evidence.

(2)
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-9  |  J: Louis Steward |  T: Sir Michael Stoute
9/1

Much-improved on second start when scoring at Chelmsford (1m) in October; colt by Frankel should make further progress back on turf after extended winter break and worth watching closely here.

4
(5)
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2  |  J: W Buick |  T: C Appleby|  OR: 81|  BF
5/2

Promising debut second behind useful Kipps at Lingfield in December (beaten a neck); perhaps didn't see out longer trip on return/turf bow at Yarmouth (11/8f) this month and should improve fitness-wise here. Respected.

5
(3)
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2  |  J: A Kirby |  T: M L W Bell
14/1

Promising debut in the autumn at Newmarket (7f, soft) when fifth in a strong contest (four subsequent winners involved); too much of an ask in Listed company at HQ on seasonal bow/second start (50-1) but his more realistic and better to come.

6
(9)
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2  |  J: Oisin Murphy |  T: Ed Walker
5/4

Finished third on debut at Haydock (1m2f, good) this month when not getting clearest run through; likely improver and Oisin Murphy stays on board. Contender.

7
(1)
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2  |  J: P J Dobbs |  T: R HannonWS
50/1

Kodiac colt, well held in two runs last year; he has undergone a wind operation during the layoff but has plenty to find making this switch to turf.

9
(13)
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2  |  J: T Eaves |  T: K A Ryan
100/1

£170,000 yearling; half-brother to three winners inc Age Of Empire (6f GB 2yo/HK) and Oxlip (6f GB 2yo/Ity); dam 5f-6f winner (inc at 2/Group 3), sister to 5f 2yo winners The Cuckoo and Neighbother out of 1m winner. Market will guide.

10
(7)
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2  |  J: Jason Hart |  T: I Furtado
200/1

Bought for just €8,000 last November. First foal of a dam who was placed at 1m4f for Godolphin; last of 10 on debut at Chelmsford (6f) three weeks ago and needs a huge step forward.

11
(12)
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2  |  J: B A Curtis |  T: H Palmer
33/1

15,000 gns foal, €75,000 yearling; dam tough 6f-7f winner (inc AW), half-sister to useful 7f-1m½f winner Bee Brave out of 1m-1m4f winning sister to Group 3 winners Suggestive (7f) and Rashbag (1m1f).

12
(11)
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-2  |  J: Dane O'Neill |  T: Owen Burrows
7/2

220,000 gns Golden Horn colt with nice pedigree; third in a Kempton maiden (1m) on debut in the autumn (winner rated 92 since); up in trip and one to be paying close attention to on seasonal bow.

13
(8)
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11  |  J: Connor Beasley |  T: J J Davies
250/1

Dam 1m AW winner (stayed 1m4f), half-sister to minor Flat winners from 6f-1m out of Listed-placed 6f/7f winning half-sister to 5f 2yo Listed winner Soreze. Likely benefits from this experience.

Matthew Flinders (5/4), First Winter (5/2), Thumur (7/2), Roberto Escobarr (4/1), Prince Imperial (9/1), Formality (14/1), Systemic (33/1), Miraz (50/1), Salam Ya Faisal (100/1), Scudamore (200/1), Ooh La Lah (250/1), Minogue (250/1), Handsome Samson (250/1)

Verdict
Formality was given a thankless challenge in Listed company at Newmarket on second start and the Royal runner likely does much better down in grade here; while Thumur, Prince Imperial and First Winter rate as potential improvers. However, ROBERTO ESCOBARR made a good impression despite a poor start on debut at Haydock and, wiser now, James Doyle's mount could be the one to take this.
  1. Roberto Escobarr
  2. Formality
  3. Thumur
