Rewarded for consistency when scoring at Kempton (6f, AW) on final start for Ed Walker in October (wore first-time blinkers; retained) and should go well again 5lb higher mark on turf for new team.
Tapeta winner at Wolverhampton in February (fourth AW win) but record is now 1-24 on turf after being well held at Leicester (6f, good) five days ago and others better placed.
No win since 2017; made an encouraging return this month at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) however and eased a further 2lb there's certainly reason to believe he can get involved under Cieren Fallon.
A year has passed since he won on turf at Brighton (5f, good); plenty good efforts in defeat since and this former C&D scorer now lurks 2lb below that win-mark. Considered with Hollie Doyle back on board.
Has plenty pace and should strip fitter after reappearance at Ayr (6f, good) eight days ago (race won by Mr Wagyu); can be involved but still 4lb clear of previous win-mark.
Losing sequence is a long one but plenty of encouraging runs last year without a win; undergone wind op over the break and handicapper has given him a chance. Watch betting.
Built on a good return to action when winning at Ayr last week taking advantage of a much-reduced mark for a yard going well. Still looks well handicapped on old form and even with a 5lb penalty is expected to play a prominent part once more.
Returned to form when runner-up in a weak affair at Southwell (5f; standard) back in March. Efforts prior to that were devoid of hope, but off an unchanged mark he has place claims at best if in similar form.
Mare won at Thirsk (7f, good to firm) in June last year on debut for this trainer; remains clear of the win-mark however and needs to hit the ground running on seasonal bow.
Forecasts
Mr Wagyu (7/2), Big Lachie (5/1), Redrosezorro (5/1), Double Up (11/2), Aliento (7/1), Turn To Rock (7/1), Mutabaahy (8/1), Sheepscar Lad (16/1), Archimedes (50/1)
Mr Wagyu is likely to make another bold bid under his penalty for winning at Ayr but perhaps there will be more to come from TURN TO ROCK now he's aimed at the turf for new connections. He ended last season with a win and could go well from his new mark if taking to this surface. Double Up should be in the mix while Sheepscar Lad is consistent and capable fresh and may have a claim after a wind operation during the break.
- Turn To Rock
- Mr Wagyu
- Sheepscar Lad
