Horse A-Z
Held back by inexperience on his debut at Haydock (6f, good) in a race where there were some well-bred/expensive types on show. Shaped with some promise though despite being slow away, tenderly handled, better to come up to 7f.

Already gelded for his debut (yard not known for unraced 2yo's); £6,000 yearling, second foal, dam sprint maiden half-sister to useful 5f/6f winner Aubrietia, Would be a surprise winner but may be better to come longer term.

Shaped better than the distance he was beaten on his Haydock debut (7f, good), finished fourth to Devious Company (winner again since). Sets the standard on that effort, bred to be suited by further, has to be a leading player after last run.

14-59 with their 2yo's this one looks to be one of the yard's lesser juveniles but is bred to need time and distance. Very green on his Redcar 7f debut he should do better in time but would make limited appeal here.

Newcomer, one of three in the field, 20,000gns yearling, fourth foal, half-brother to French 1m (including at 2yo) winner Marie de Medicis. Dam 1m4f winner who stayed further decent pedigree, yard 0-9 with debutant juveniles this year.

Debutant from a yard with a poor strike-rate with 2yo newcomers in recent year's (7-108 since 2015). £111,000 yearling, third foal, dam winner up to 7f (2yo 6f winner). Looks an unlikely winner given the yard's record, best observed.

Forecasts

Currency Exchange (1/1), Desert History (11/8), Mister Allegro (12/1), Topper Bill (12/1), Wor Willie (16/1), Definitely Alright (28/1), Distinction (40/1), Shesaheart (80/1)

Verdict

Two of the field stand head and shoulders above the rest with DESERT HISTORY given the marginal nod on his Haydock debut over this trip behind Devious Company a subsequent winner under a penalty. He looked better than his finishing position on that occasion and he’s sure to come on for the run. Currency Exchange is a similar type having also made his debut at Haydock but over 6f but he should be suited by this 7f and provides a good test for the selection. Of the remainder Wor Willie looks the best of the newcomers while time and distance will be needed to show Mister Allegro in a more positive light.
