Won Newcastle 5f novice event in January on only third start and shaped as though the outing would bring him on when fourth at Haydock on handicap bow over 6f recently off 1lb higher mark. Drop in trip looks the right move.
Made it 3-3 at Woverhampton when winning 5f handicap in pleasing fashion earlier this month. Raised 7lb and has just second start on turf having been fair 5th of 12 here on debut last summer.
Made all to land 6f novice event here last term and was again up with the pace all the way when just hanging on to win 6f Leicester handicap 11 days ago. 4lb higher but is pacey and drop in trip will not inconvenience him.
33/1 Chepstow 5f maiden winner last season and ran with credit in handicaps after without managing to get her head in front again. Ran freely on return at Goodwood and faded inside 1f but is not out of this if she settles better this time.
Odds-on and comfortably won Brighton three-runner maiden last September on fourth start. Kept on well when third, beaten one length, at Goodwood recently off this mark and having blown cobwebs away looks a contender here.
Runner-up three times last season prior to Kempton 5f nursery success in October. Finished well when second there earlier this month having reared up at the start and seemingly lost all chance. Up 4lb for that but is not out of it.
6f handicap winner at Lingfield and Wolverhampton this winter showing plenty of speed both times. Led until headed 1f out over 6f at Leicester on recent return and will have improved for that. Rider's 5lb allowance helps the cause.
Forecasts
Clareyblue (2/1), Spanish Angel (3/1), Love Powerful (4/1), Batchelor Boy (13/2), Newyorkstateofmind (8/1), Bowling Russian (12/1), Glamorous Anna (40/1)
There could be a proper battle on for the lead with five of the seven runners liking to bowl along up front. BATCHELOR BOY is one of the few closers and this race could be set up for him if the gaps come at the right time. He has been doing well of late. Bowling Russian has won over 6f but the drop in trip won't harm if he declines a race for the lead, while Clarey Blue, Spanish Angel and Love Powerful are all potential dangers if they get things their own way in an interesting little event.
- Batchelor Boy
- Spanish Angel
- Bowling Russian
