33-1 for only start last year at Newcastle (1m, AW) in a novice contest and was too green to play any sort of meaningful part. Up in trip on return to action and lots of improvement needed.

Twice held in bumpers last year but shaped with much more purpose recently at Kempton (1m3f, AW; 14-1) when beaten 1½L into third. Should be sharper for that run and high on the shortlist as a result.

Mastercraftsman mare; third foal from the 6f winner Stellarina; half-sister to a winning sprinter; tailed off in Ludlow bumper (2m, good to soft; 33-1) in January. Drop in trip some help now.

450,000 gns yearling, Galileo colt. Half-brother to three winners, notably Derby winner Golden Horn. Beautifully bred newcomer and finds a nice starting place seemingly.

Well held in both starts so far; latest being a return from 257 days off at Haydock (1m2f, good; 40-1) this month. Plenty improvement as stamina stretched out again here.

Free Eagle colt, cost 32,000 gns as a yearling and winners in family; sported cheekpieces (retained) on debut this month at Newcastle (1m2f, AW; 66-1) and never able to get involved. Should know more now and can do better.

Was resold for €58,000 as a yearling; 33-1 on racecourse bow this month at Haydock (1m2f, good) and struggled late on in finishing last of 11. May need more time.
Fifth live foal; brother to Ateescomponent, placed 1m4½f AW, dam prolific 1m winner, out of 2m hurdle winner. Yard not readily known for first-time-out winners.

Half-sister to useful 1m1f AW winner Nostalgie; dam 1m1½ f-1m2f AW winner, half-sister to useful winners Nadeszhda (1m2f-1m4f GB/US) and Nataliya (6f 2yo) out of 1m4f Italian Listed winner. Represents top trainer and filly needs considering here.

Forecasts

Arrow Of Gold (5/4), Eagle's Foot (4/1), Nostalgica (9/2), Make Haste Slowly (13/2), Bringitonboris (14/1), Teescomponentsfly (25/1), Momentsaftamidnite (33/1), Dawn Landing (33/1), Kuredu (50/1), Stellarista (150/1)

Verdict

Those with experience aren't setting the bar high, with recent Kempton third Make Haste Slowly holding sway. This might well rest between well-bred newcomers ARROW OF GOLD and Nostalgica. It wouldn't be any sort of shock if the Mark Johnston filly got the job done but Kevin Ryan's son of Galileo is a half-brother to Derby/Arc hero Golden Horn and gets the vote on a track where the trainer has 23 per-cent strike rate over the previous 12 months.
  1. Arrow Of Gold
  2. Nostalgica
  3. Make Haste Slowly
