Fair bumper performer but has struggled over both the larger obstacles and timber. Hard to entertain his chances on return to action.

Showed plenty in bumpers for Guy Cherel in France but limited in five-race interrupted hurdles career for current connections. Tailed off on latest start at Leopardstown in March and others preferred.

Age: 7|  Weight: 12-0| J: T Ryan(5)| T: S Ryan| CD
16/1
Gelding by Ask and a half-brother to winner Mahler And Me. Winner when last seen in a bumper here in May 2018 at this venue over a similar trip. Worth noting in the betting on hurdling debut.
4
Horse silk
Gondor146
Age: 5|  Weight: 12-0| J: M P Fogarty| T: Colm Murphy
80/1
Ask gelding. Tailed off on dismal debut in a Down Royal bumper earlier this year in January. Will need others to under-perform.

33/1
Off the mark for connections on his third start in a Clonmel bumper last September. Well beaten and no impact on hurdling debut when last seen in October. Looks vulnerable in this contest.
6
Horse silk
100/1
Fair Mix gelding. Sent off at big prices on all four career starts so far before running accordingly on each occasion. Easy to look elsewhere.
7
Horse silk
Newlandst240
Age: 9|  Weight: 12-0| J: Phillip Enright| T: E J O'Grady
50/1
Flat maiden, fair effort over 1m6f here in August on the level but made no impression on hurdling debut at Galway when last seen in October. Best watched once again.
Kayf Tara gelding out of a Sri Pekan mare. Could be worth a check in the market on debut representing a yard who have a 50% win and place strike rate at this venue in May/June since 2015 from 10 runners.
Gelding by Doyen. Pulled up both starts in point-to-points and tailed off on both hurdling efforts in February/March this year. May find this tough.

Age: 4|  Weight: 11-7| J: Richard Condon(7)| T: P A Fahy
125/1
15-race maiden. Makes little appeal based on what the gelding has shown for connections so far and not in the form required to play a part in the finish in this contest.

Horse silk
Gerry's Wayt1329
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-7| J: D N Russell| T: G Elliott
10/1
Winner on the Flat in May last year landing a 14-runner Leopardstown 1m maiden. Likely to be of interest on hurdling debut for a yard with a 30% win and place strike rate since 2015 in May/June at this track.

Jack Yeats345
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-7| J: Darragh O'Keeffe| T: J Halley
16/1
91-rated son of Galileo on the Flat for Aidan O'Brien, used as pacemaker for Japan in the 2019 Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot. Best checked in the betting on stable and hurdling debut.

Horse silk
Jubatus292
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-7| J: K C Sexton| T: Peter Fahey| D

Sole career start came in a Southwell bumper over a similar trip last September, landing the spoils by 1¼L. Clearly had her training problems and market likely to be the best guide for this daughter of Yeats.
14
Horse silk
100/1
Three-race maiden. Improved on her bumper efforts when eighth in big field at Navan on hurdling debut in March but needs another major step forward
15
Horse silk
Royal Aide179
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-7| J: S A Mulcahy(7)| T: D Hogan
12/1
Experienced nine-race colt by Galileo. Useful 85-rated handicapper on the Flat for trainer Joseph O'Brien. Not disgraced on second start over hurdles over C&D back in December. May be capable of improvement.
16
Horse silk
66/1
Useful 77-rated handicapper on the Flat for trainer Sir Mark Prescott but has found the step into hurdling company a struggle since. Looks a tall order on overall form shown.

Forecasts

Bentham (5/6), Filon D'Oudairies (4/1), Skyace (6/1), Battling Warrior (8/1), Say It Ain't So (9/1), Gerry's Way (10/1), Royal Aide (12/1), Jack Yeats (16/1), Gallowglass (16/1), Bigly (16/1), Jubatus (33/1), Jazz Toes (33/1), Newlands (50/1), Trouble And Strife (66/1), Gondor (80/1), Mick Mixy (100/1), Lauderdale Lady (100/1), Der Mc (125/1), Shackleton Island (250/1)

Verdict

The J P McManus-owned FILON D'OUDAIRIES can get off the mark at the six time of asking in the opener. The Joseph O'Brien-trained five-year-old is capable of running a big race on return to action at the expense of the Gavin Cromwell-trained Bentham who returns over hurdles today and can emerge as the biggest danger. Newcomers, Say It Ain't So representing trainer Henry De Bromhead, Gerry's Way for the trainer jockey combination of Gordon Elliott/Davy Russell and the former Aidan O'Brien-trained Jack Yeats should not be easily dismissed.
  1. Filon D'Oudairies
  2. Bentham
  3. Gerry's Way
