Highly tried since being successful on each of his first two juvenile starts (including here; 6f); finished in the midfield on return to action at Haydock (6f, good to soft) a fortnight ago; stamina is an obvious question mark.
Cost 200,000gns as a yearling; showed promise on Haydock debut (6f) before disappointing in the mud at Hamilton (5f, heavy); swiftly back on track with a smooth 3¾L victory on handicap debut at Newcastle three weeks ago; 11lb higher over a new trip.
Redcar debut winner (6f, gd/firm) before landing valuable place prize-money in a 28-runner sales contest at Newmarket (6f, gd/soft); keeping on third to Edraak in a Newcastle novice (6f) three weeks ago; steps up in trip for handicap debut.
Won twice over 6f as a juvenile, including when making all here against the stands' side rial (June 2019); backed out of contention from the two furlong pole on recent Haydock (6f, good to soft) reappearance; others are preferred.
Shot clear when winning over an extended 7f at Wolverhampton last October; wasn't disgraced on recent comeback run at Lingfield (1m) when finishing sixth of 12 to Atheeb; stamina clearly isn't in doubt (unlike for many of these rivals).
Runner-up in a soft ground maiden here (1m) last October, before breaking his duck on the AW at Wolverhampton (all-out); finished well down the field at Haydock (1m2f) 15 days ago; drops back in trip seeking first turf success (0-12).
Forecasts
Oakenshield (15/8), Mischief Star (9/4), Macho Time (13/2), Bond's Boy (7/1), Gobi Sunset (8/1), Clay Regazzoni (11/1)
Both Oakenshield and Bond's Boy are undoubtedly three-year-old's with potential. The former cost a tidy sum as a yearling (200,000gns) and was a most taking winner on handicap debut at Newcastle (6f) three weeks ago. However, from an 11lb higher mark he competes over an extra 1½f. Therefore, a more speculative selection is the less 'sexy' MISCHIEF STAR. While more exposed than each of those aforementioned rivals, his stamina reserves aren't in doubt, and he should strip fitter for a creditable comeback run at Lingfield Park.
- Mischief Star
- Bond's Boy
- Oakenshield
