One of only two runners in this field with experience under her belt. Will need to show significant improvement from debut effort over 5f at this track, but did stay on towards the latter stages of the contest. 6f should be more to her liking.
Daughter of Kodi Bear who cost €8,800 as a yearling. Dam won over 7f/1m as a two-year-old. Difficult to know what to expect on debut so market likely to prove informative.
Equiano filly cost just €2,200 as a yearling. Dam a 1m/1m4f winner and she is a half-sister to a 7f two-year-old winner. Unlikely to make a winning debut in this company so is best watched.
From the first crop of crack miler The Gurkha. Made pleasing enough debut when fifth at the Curragh (5f; good to firm) over a trip which was always likely to be short of her best. Turned out quickly again and is the one to beat.
Stable have hit the crossbar numerous times recently, and almost bagged first winner of the new season on Wednesday. No Nay Never filly makes debut in an open looking race and she has place claims. Stamina in pedigree.
By Charm Spirit. Dam a winner on the AW in France over 7f as a two-year-old. Stable in good form in recent days, so she is respected for powerful connections.
Acclamation filly. Made €47,000 as a yearling. Half-sister to 7f two-year-old winner Justina. Yard have been going along steadily since racing resumed (9-59 in last 14 days). Interesting to see how she features in the betting.
Forecasts
Hazel (6/4), Finest (5/2), Sussex Garden (4/1), Perfect Sign (10/1), Allagar (11/1), Catch Kodi (40/1), Chummie (50/1)
It would be wise not to over complicate matters in this opening race, and that being said the safest option is FINEST. The selection showed enough ability to suggest she could win a race of this nature when fifth on debut last week. She is bound to improve as so many from this yard do after their first runs, and the step up to 6f is another reason to be confident. Of the remainder, Sussex Garden would have to be the pick on paper given she cost the most of the newcomers as a yearling, followed by Perfect Sign who represents the powerful Qatar Racing operation and her stable have had five winners since Friday so are evidently in good form.
- Finest
- Sussex Garden
- Perfect Sign
