Debut for gelded son of Camelot out of 7f juvenile scorer. Yard yet to have a turf scorer this year and on balance is likely to improve for this first racecourese experienece.

Ran beyond expectations when 100/1 third over 1m in novice stakes last week. Form looks fair and having finished nicely the extra 2f looks within his compass and he should again be on the premises.

325,000gns Golden Horn gelding out of a German 1m2f winner. Gelded prior to good second on debut at Newcastle in December and appeared to tie up when third over C&D last week on first start back. Better for the run and step up in trip will suit.

Cost $1,600,000 as a yearling by Medaglia D'Oro out of US Grade 1 winner at up to 1m2f. Favourite but looked very green when slow away at Wolverhampton on December and never recovered. May do better now racing on turf and yard in superb form.

20,000 euros colt by Poet's Voice out of winner at this trip. Solid fifth on debut at Chelmsford in October then hated heavy ground when well beaten here time after. Better than that and should win a race or two this term.
Golden Horn filly out of fair 1m2f winner. Looked green and found it all a bit much on debut at Kempton earlier this month but showed enough to suggest she has a little ability. Will know more now but may need a little more time.

Forecasts

Tenbury Wells (7/4), Spectrum Of Light (11/4), Sarvan (7/2), Horn Of Plenty (9/2), Annie De Vega (7/1), Sceptred Isle (16/1), Whisper Not (20/1), Fortultous (50/1)

Verdict

A competitive novice stakes in which a case can be made for a number of the contenders but narrow preference is for ANNIE DE VEGA whose yard is in fine fettle and who was a good third on debut at Notitngham last year. Sarvan is a danger having finished a good third on debut here recently in a fair contest and he will appreciate the step up in trip, while the expensive Tenbury Wells is expected to do better this season than a moderate first effort last year and hails form the yard of the champion trainer. Spectrum Of Light may have needed his recent run at Newcastle and can improve, and Whisper Not is excused a poor run here last year on bad ground.
  1. Annie De Vega
  2. Sarvan
  3. Tenbury Wells
