Needed the experience on debut, and improved - while still looking a work in progress - when fifth to Mishriff in the Listed Newmarket Stakes over 1¼m here recently. Will improve again at this trip, and hard to beat here.
Homebred from family of Fillies' Mile and Falmouth Stakes winner Simply Perfect. Showed ability when fifth of 11 to Summer House in a 1½m maiden at Lingfield 11 days ago, shaping as if much better for the run. Not discounted.
Shamardal half-brother to useful 2-y-o 6f winner Beaverbrook out of a winning half-sister to smart 7f winner Latharnach. In good hands, but not really bred for stamina, so debut at this trip is a slight concern.
Cost 1,100,000 gns, and is out of an unraced sister to top-class performer Midday. Kept on when third of 14 to Punctuation in a 1½m maiden on debut at Kempton in February, and while that's only fair form, he is bound to improve, so can't be ignored.
Cost 40,000 as a 2-y-o, and related to winners, but has shown no sign of ability in two starts to date.
Forecasts
Al Aasy (8/11), Cigoli (10/3), Arabic Welcome (4/1), Alenh (14/1), Royal Bassett (300/1)
AL AASY was no match for the smart Mishriff here last time, but he drops markedly in grade, and should be too good for Godolphin pair Cigoli and Arabic Welcome. Alenh may be a big price, but he shaped better than the result on his debut at Lingfield, and shouldn't be left entirely out of calculations.
