Gelded for his first 3yo start (handicap debut) showed improved form up in trip (3.5f further than tried before) to win a 4-runner event at Yarmouth (had the run of the race). Well on top at the finish, still looks well treated despite a 6lb penalty.
Debut form got left well behind on his second start (proved sharper but not the finished product) when winning at Chelmsford (1m2f, slow). That race has yet to produce a winner, no reason to believe he won't improve though on his handicap debut.
Pedigree reads well for a test such as this having won last time out underling his race-to-race progression over 1m2f at Lingfield. Open to further improvement he doesn't look as well handicapped as one or two, should still make an impact.
Handicap newcomer; shown promise in three minor/maiden events at up to 9.5f (best run came on turf). Up in trip after a fair absence (has been gelded) he may do better in this sphere but has got a little to do with the main players.
Badly hampered on his only previous try at this trip he made amends soon after when dropped 2f to score at Lingfield (all three AW starts there). Showed a good attitude to win narrowly; now on handicap debut returning to 1m4f, bred to stay well.
Looks the sort to have been brought along with handicaps in mind (fair form as a 2yo). Never landed a blow when last seen over 1m2f at Chelmsford (not given a hard time), hood on for handicap debut, one to note in market.
Forecasts
Jellystone (7/4), Colonize (11/4), Finely Tuned (16/5), Angel On High (6/1), Caledonian Crusade (20/1), Kommodity Kid (25/1)
Potentially interesting 3yo handicap with all bar the topweight and penalised runner JELLYSTONE making their handicap debuts. The suggestion from a yard that is going well was allowed to dominate at Yarmouth last time scoring by 7.5L under a hand-and-heels ride. A 6lb penalty is unlikely to stop him following up unless a quick return sees him “bounce” after a long absence. Colonize with the Gosden yard in stellar form has had just the two runs prior to this handicap debut (such horses are winning 3yo handicaps at a 20% strike-rate) and looks a danger. Caledonian Crusade will fare better in this sphere and along with Finely Tuned and Angel On High give the race some depth.
