£52,000 yearling out of a sprint-winning mare by Mayson. 3-1 favourite on debut at Newcastle (5f, AW) recently, when a close second. That was a promising start, and he may be able to improve on that result this time.

125,000gns yearling by Dark Angel and brother to three winners (one at Group 2), out of a 6f Qater winner. 4-1 for recent Newcastle debut, when running green late on and not far behind Significantly in fourth. Looks a player this time.

31,000gns foal, £40,000 yearling. Closely-related to two sprint winners and half-brother to two other winners, one a sprinter. Stable usually 16% with 2yos over five seasons, though still having first few runners this term. Market check.

Forecasts

Significantly (4/9), Diamondonthehill (6/1), Strike Red (7/1), Collinsbay (11/1), Uncle Jumbo (18/1)

Verdict

An interesting maiden despite the small field, and we'll side with the positive experience of SIGNIFICANTLY to help Karl Burke's colt improve his position by a place to win this time. Strike Red wasn't far behind him at Newcastle and time will tell whether he is capable of even greater improvement. He is feared. There is interest in all three newcomers, and the market can probably best our best guide on that front, but both Collinsbay and Uncle Jumbo may be the ones to scrap it out for some prize money today.
