Dual distance winner on good to firm last summer. Still looks well treated if able to produce the best of that form first time out, and with his top stable in good form, he is fully entitled to be a leading contender again.
Won five times for Jonny Portman, three of them at around 2m. Now 2lb higher than the most recent of those at York last July. Despite some Class 2 defeats, he still looks to have the scope for more from this mark after a change of scenery.
Easy dual 2m winner last season (good to firm/good to soft) at Class 4 level, but was unable to match that form in this grade in his last three starts, after being gelded. Still 5lb higher than his last win and has a bit to prove on his return.
Scored over a similar trip at Ffos Las (good; first-time cheekpieces) last September and good effort next time in the Cesarewitch Trial (2m2f; first-time visor) when 1lb lower than today. Ran well here over hurdles in December and not ruled out.
Reeled off a five-timer at a lower last year at around 1m6f on various types of ground. Handicapper appeared to have caught up by the time he stepped up to this class for his last two starts, so he'll need to have improved to win this.
Stepped up successfully to this sort of trip at Musselburgh last September (good to firm), when 4lb lower. Not as good back over 1m6f in two subsequent starts, and since gelded. Stable back among the winners and he could again be involved.

A tough puzzle for punters and a race where nothing can be confidently ruled out. Themaxwecan should give a good account under topweight but perhaps today is the day that SLEEPING LION can reverse last season's Ascot placings with him on 5lb better terms. Charlie D, Mancini and Rochester House are others with claims.
