Well backed when making a winning return to action to open his chase account in November off a much lower chase mark at Ludlow (3m2f, heavy). Built up a good record since especially at Ludlow; concedes weight all round back in novice grade.
Useful sort over hurdles making all for all his four victories in 2018. Yet to win over fences but needs a test such as this to be seen at his best; cheekpieces go on for the first-time and the yard is in good form, Festival winner last week.
Yet to win over fences and had turned in the odd moody display which questions his temperament for such a test as this. First-time tongue-tie added to cheekpieces work last time when second at Catterick (didn't impress with head carriage).
Forecasts
Commodore Barry (6/5), Bobo Mac (15/8), Coole Hall (11/4)
The attitude that Coole Hall has shown in some of his races leaves him open to question here against two far more solid and likeable types. Bobo Mac has been in good form in handicaps mostly at Ludlow (goes well there) but he does have to concede weight and possibly ground to the front-running COMMODORE BARRY. Kim Bailey’s charge has yet to open his chasing account but his 4-7 hurdles record shows that he is more than capable. He was below form last time when given an insufficient test of stamina and this 3m will suit much better especially as he’s likely to get the run of things from the front with the yard remaining in good form.
- Commodore Barry
- Bobo Mac
- Coole Hall
