Hardly prolific but twice second last summer off similar marks. Pulled-up latest and suspicion remains that summer ground is the key but the fact that the champion jockey is up today piques interest.

Looked a chaser in the making in three promising hurdle efforts but that not so far been the case with jumping errors blighting three chase efforts. Still early days however and likely would have been fourth latest had he not unseated at the last.

Won a 3m Southwell Mares Novices Handicap penultimately but never going subsequently at Wetherby where she was pulled-up after reportedly losing her action. Achieved more than most over fences so bounce back likely.

Won two of his three starts here for top local trainer with win first time over fences (2m5f, good) quite taking. Jumped poorly at Market Rasen latest but form otherwise quite strong and worth chancing back at seemingly favourite course.

Bumper winner in 2017 lightly-raced since but showed promise in three hurdle races before the turn of the year with Warwick second the best of them. May appreciate a fence now and genuine claims if he jumps well.

Forecasts

Amateur (2/1), Ivilnoble (4/1), Sackett (4/1), Cuban Pete (4/1), No No Juliet (5/1)

Verdict

Venetia Williams is always a force to be reckoned with at her local track as her 24 per cent strike-rate this season shows and CUBAN PETE looks to have a great chance for the former Grand National winning trainer based on his two course wins. None of the quintet can be completely ruled out with Southwell winner No No Juliet and lightly raced hurdler Amateur who is having his first run over fences the most feared rivals to the selection.
  1. Cuban Pete
  2. No No Juliet
  3. Amateur
