Built on previous solid second here when hacking up in four-runner affair at Lingfield on heavy ground penultimate start. Raised 10lb but solid effort Chepstow latest when second and should still be competitive despite further 1lb rise.
Won mares' novice chase over C&D in November, followed up at Exeter, and won again in heavy ground last time at Warwick having been outclassed in higher grade time before. Revels in going and looks a player off current mark.
Fell 9th at Warwick last time having been good second over 3m at Sandown time before. Ground not an issue but stable having fairly quiet time at present so worth a market check for sign of any confidence.
Yard have won this race an impressive three times in last six years. Stayed on well to win at Plumpton in January then had miserable time latest when lost confidence after early stumble then bled. Eased 1lb and has solid chance if back on song.
Seemed to appreciate 2m3f when winning well penultimate start but and not disgraced over 1f further at Haydock latest. Stamina will be tested in this ground though over extra half mile so has a bit to prove.
Handles testing ground and stays this trip but hasn't been in great form of late and was tailed off at Exeter 11 days ago. Eased 2lb but has it to do on recent evidence.
1-11 over timber at decent level but yet to strike in four attempts so far over fences. Made favourite on handicap bow at Ludlow last time but unseated rider 4 out when already struggling. 2lb lower but hasn't convinced yet as a chaser.
Scored by wide margin at Kelso in October and was 10lb higher but going strongly when fell 5 out at Newcastle time after. Upsides 3 out at Leicester when unseated later in January but good second over inadequate trip Kelso latest. Interesting.
In-and-out performer who has won on heavy ground in past. Responded well to first-time blinkers when winning 3m Exeter h'cap chase in October on good ground but beaten a long way there last time. Jockey booking catches the eye though.
Runner-up twice at Newcastle mid-season prior to wind surgery and will be better for recent close second in a jumpers bumper at Newcastle against much higher rated rival. Goes on heavy so may not be at all far away.
Forecasts
Clondaw Anchor (4/1), Looks Like Murt (5/1), Midnight Tune (11/2), Sam's Adventure (6/1), Aye Aye Charlie (7/1), Musical Slave (8/1), Cloudy Glen (8/1), Over To Sam (9/1), Golden Sunrise (25/1), Virginia Chick (33/1)
Quite a few with claims here but getting weight from most of his rivals SAM'S ADVENTURE might be the value having done nicely in a bumper last time on his first start following wind surgery. He goes well in these conditions. Top weight Clondaw Anchor may give him most to do and is in fine shape at present, as too is the mare Midnight Tune, winner of three of her last four starts. Over To Sam represents a yard with a great record in this race and can be forgiven a luckless run last time, while Looks Like Murt is not out of it stepping back up in trip.
- Sam's Adventure
- Clondaw Anchor
- Over To Sam
