15 race maiden was beaten 16L when last of six over 3m2f at Warwick (soft) in January. Changed stables since and is worth a check in the market dropping in distance.

Performed well when finishing runner-up over an extended 2m4f at Market Rasen (good-to-soft) in December. Raised 5lb for that effort and interesting to see if the cheekpieces worn for the first time at Market Rasen work on this occasion.

Fair 16½L sixth off this mark in this race 12 months ago but has been absent since finished well beaten at Newbury (3m, good-to-soft) later that month. Others make more appeal on seasonal debut.

Pulled up on handicap debut in a 2m5f contest at Limerick (soft-to-heavy) in November. Market support would be notable with a tongue tie tried for the first time on debut for this yard.

Put a disappointing effort at Catterick behind him when finishing 4½L third in a handicap hurdle over an extended 2m7f at Fakenham (good-to-soft) just over two months ago. One to note having run well over C&D in the past.

13 race maiden was beaten 26L when ninth in a big field 2m5f handicap at Kempton (good-to-soft) a month ago. Interesting to see how he fares racing off a mark 4lb lower than when placed at Exeter (2m7f, good) last April.

Point-to-point winner showed fair form when finishing fifth in a big field handicap hurdle over an extended 2m4f at Huntingdon (heavy) last time out. Likely more needed if he's to take this race however.

Performed well when 4L third in a novices' handicap hurdle over an extended 2m3f on heavy ground here in January. Interesting back over hurdles having pulled up on chase debut at Warwick (2m4f, heavy) last time out.

Signs of ability in three starts over hurdles to date including in a decent looking race over an extended 2m at Newbury (good) a month ago. Market support would be notable stepping up in trip on handicap debut.

Maiden after seven starts and was beaten 33L when fourth in a 2m handicap hurdle at Plumpton (heavy) last month. Hopes appear to lie with the application of blinkers for the first time and step up in distance bringing about improvement.

Broke her maiden at the eighth time of asking under Rules when winning by ½L at Leicester (good) over an extended 2m4f in January. Blinkers worn for the first time that day are retained racing off the same mark in this event.

Ended last season with a good third in a 2m7f handicap hurdle at Exeter (good) in April. Likely to have improved for her seasonal debut when pulled up at Lingfield (2m7f, heavy) in January.

Forecasts

Frankly Speaking (9/4), Eaglehill (3/1), Ninth Wave (11/2), Dalaman (7/1), Little Ginge (11/1), Dollnamix (12/1), Avithos (16/1), Cougar Kid (16/1), Lady Chartreuse (22/1), Charle's River (28/1), Lara Trot (28/1), Pat Kelly (33/1), Agincourt Reef (40/1)

Verdict

COURGAR KID has shown good form here in the past and dropping back in trip he can register a third course success in the concluding race on the card. The selection has a useful amateur jockey in the saddle and can get the better of Eaglehill who was placed on his most recent start. Third place can go the way of Lara Trot who was a winner last time out.
  1. Cougar Kid
  2. Eaglehill
  3. Lara Trot
