Three wins from first five starts over fences came over 2m-2m3½f on soft/heavy ground; perhaps found stamina stretched most recently at Kelso in January and should be competitive down in trip again.
Successful over C&D on good-to-soft going in October; has also run well here over further this season. Let down by jumping at Newcastle last time and needs to put that behind now.
Competitive in small fields on testing ground of late, suspicion remains that he'd want a longer trip however with previous chase success coming here over 2m4f in spring of 2018 from mark of 112.
Back-to-back wins at Newcastle in November both over 2m4f on heavy ground, struggled from career-high mark at Kelso in January (2m5½f, heavy; 16-1) and may find this trip sharp at this point.
Sedgefield winner on Boxing Day and twice ran well afterwards at Ayr and Newcastle on soft ground, well held back at former venue last month however and needs to put that behind him.
Prominent racer, has finished second or third in five of his last six starts, including behind Mah Mate Bob at Sedgefield in November (2m3½, soft). Likely to give another solid account and deserves to get his head in front soon.
Forecasts
Mah Mate Bob (2/1), Skipping On (10/3), Ripstick (5/1), Black Kettle (5/1), Le Frank (7/1), Charlie Snow Angel (14/1)
Having won three times in five starts this winter, there's a chance that MAH MATE BOB was found out by a bust schedule when he failed to fire at Kelso in January. He's been given a decent break since and a mark of 112 shouldn't prove to be his ceiling. He can get back on the up now, with the very consistent Black Kettle feared most ahead of Skipping On.
