Beaten 76L on hurdling debut at Down Royal before falling at the third in a maiden contest at Punchestown in November; much better effort last time at the scene of his fall and capable of going close if staying on his feet.
Has been running with plenty of credit in a few starts over hurdles since the start of the year; generally finds a couple too good but is gaining in experience and his day will come soon.
Difficult to make a strong case for based on all known form; did show slight improvement last time out here over 2m and step up in trip may help but not the most obvious winner.
Highly respected bumper performer who has found things more difficult than expected over hurdles; seems to be going in the right direction and obviously respected from top yard.
Found life difficult over hurdles at the backend of last year but produced a far better effort last time out at Thurles; expected to be suited by this step up in trip he is one for the shortlist at the very least.
Well beaten on all racecourse appearances including twice over hurdles; step up in trip may help but still hard to make a strong case for on all known form.
Point-to-point winner; has struggled since switched to racing under Rules and hard to fancy in this event despite showing slightly improved effort last time out at Punchestown.
Has been very consistent in maiden hurdles and handicaps since making his jumps debut in December 2018; clear form pick but absence of a win to date is a worry.
Related to some fair National Hunt performers; pulled up on only point-to-point start and similar story on recent bumper debut; cheekpieces applied for the first time more in hope than expectation here.
Sent off at big races in all her three racecourse appearances and ran accordingly; hard to see where the improvement will come from.
Forecasts
Young Ted (1/1), Golden Spread (3/1), Bois De Clamart (5/1), Desire De Joie (11/2), Thunderosa (25/1), Stansfield (33/1), The Dreams Alive (33/1), Michael's Pick (50/1), Dessie Deschamps (66/1), A Star In Leo (66/1)
YOUNG TED has the best form of those on show and while one might have expected a win from him by now, this looks a decent opportunity for him to get off the mark. The six-year put up his best performance to finish second in a handicap at Punchestown and he has fair form at this track to boot. Michael's Pick showed a fair amount of promise last time out and seems sure to be suited to this step up in trip while it would be no surprise to see Willie Mullins finally getting a tune out of the frustrating Golden Spread.
- Young Ted
- Michael's Pick
- Golden Spread
