Held in two starts since winning over an extended 2m at Sedgefield (soft) in a first time hood (retained since) in November. Worth a check in the market off a mark 3lb higher than for that Sedgefield triumph.
Completed a double when winning by ¾L in a handicap chase over an extended 2m at Haydock (heavy) last month. Raised 7lb for that victory and is a leading contender with the trip and forecast underfoot conditions in his favour.
Followed up a 2m handicap chase victory at Chepstow (heavy) last month with an odds-on success over the same trip at Carlisle (soft) earlier this month. Bold show expected despite an 8lb rise in the weights.
Put a disappointing effort at Aintree in December behind him when finishing a short-head second over this C&D on soft ground later that month. Hails from a top yard and is interesting off a 4lb higher mark on his return from a short break.
Justfied odds-on favourtiism when taking a match race over 2m at Musselburgh (good) by 17L last month but struggled when pulled up under a penalty at Market Rasen (2m3f, good-to-soft) subsequently. Better expected back down in trip.
Winner of this race 12 months ago but has disappointed of late including when pulled up on each of his last two starts. Market support would be notable off a mark 2lb lower than for last years success.
Pulled up on both starts this season most recently over 2m3f at Doncaster (soft) in December. Given a break since and races off a mark 1lb lower than when winning at Leicester (2m, good-to-firm) 12 months ago.
Winning for the tenth time when battling to a head success in a handicap hurdle over an extended 2m on heavy ground here last month. Races off a mark 3lb higher mark on his first chase start since winning at Ascot (2m1f, good) last March.
Successful twice on heavy ground prior to finishing 12L third in a four runner event at Lingfield (2m, heavy) last time out. Races off the same mark here and this looks a more competitive event.
Forecasts
Billingsley (7/2), Dorking Cock (7/2), Amoola Gold (4/1), Eddiemaurice (5/1), Flaminger (7/1), Rose Sea Has (10/1), Lillington (18/1), Boagrius (33/1), Ontopoftheworld (66/1)
DORKING COCK has been in great form since switched to fences and he can complete a hat-trick with victory in this handicap chase. Like the selection Billingsley is chasing a third consecutive victory and he is taken to claim second spot ahead of Amoola Gold who can finish third on his return from a break.
- Dorking Cock
- Billingsley
- Amoola Gold
