A stout stayer, career highlight came when a game winner of the Highlands National (3m6f) at Perth in April 2017; best judged recently on third place finish at Market Rasen on penultimate start; looks well handicapped and could go close.
Moderate strike-rate (2-37 under rules), and he looked laboured when a distant fifth at Bangor earlier this month; probably has a chance of picking up some place prize money but on balance, not the most obvious winner.
Confirmed front-runner; returned from sizable absence to run a fair effort at Ayr in January before unseating rider in the early stages here over 3m recently; reasonable chance if staying on his feet.
Three-time chase winner pulled up twice in four starts this season and even latest fifth would need to be improved upon to get competitive though races here 1lb lower than last winning mark.
Lightly raced gelding who showed some promise when a well beaten second at Ayr over 2m4f in November on chase debut; needs to put poor run last time out behind him on handicap debut.
Far better hurdler than chaser though last win came over two years ago; tailed off when last seeing a racecourse earlier this month and likely to struggle from so far out of the handicap.
Forecasts
Clondaw Rigger (5/2), Boric (7/2), Shanroe Street (4/1), Misfits (9/2), Letemgo (11/2), Walkin In The Rain (7/1)
The veteran BORIC needs to put a below par run last time out at Newcastle behind him but if he can return to the form he showed previously at Sedgefield and Market Rasen then he looks like having a great chance to add to his four chase victories to date. The 12-year-old is an out and out stayer and will not be inconvenienced by any further rainfall. Another who needs to bounce back from a below par run last time out is Misfits who perhaps found 3m6f too much for him at Bangor and a return to this shorter trip should suit. Clondaw Rigger has not been finishing too many of his races of late but when he does, he has talent and has a reasonable if everything falls right for him.
