Ex-Godolphin; has done well for the Cartmel handler James Moffatt (3-27 over hurdles); off the track since finishing third to Lucky Robin at Perth (2m, good to soft) last July; should strip fitter for this comeback run.
Made an excellent start to life over hurdles with Oliver Greenall (form figures of 22111 between February & April 2019); returned to the winners enclosure with a decisive Class 5 handicap win on the Flat here (C&D) ten days ago; solid.
6-27 over fences but has generally struggled for form since finishing second to Willie Boy at Wetherby (2m3½f, good to soft) on Boxing Day 2018; cheekpieces are applied; safer to look elsewhere.
Kicked off the season with a pleasing second at Carlisle (2m4f, soft); bitterly disappointing since (includes a pair of falls); faces a very different test here, but is difficult to fancy on the basis of that recent form.
Always handy when springing a minor surprise in a maiden hurdle at Sedgefield (2m1f, soft) in December; was comfortably out of his depth in the Scottish County Hurdle (Class 2) at Musselburgh three weeks ago; outside place claims.
Cost €125,000 (Apr 2017); promising earlier on in his career (bumpers & novice hurdles) but things haven't gone to plan over fences; now appears to be a shadow of his former self; risky, yet couldn't be dismissed as a possible player.
Seeks an elongated hat-trick following back-to-back wins at Perth and Market Rasen (2m-2m½f, good) in the spring of 2019; probable contender, albeit with race-fitness taken on trust following a 278-day absence.
Modest on the Flat for Charles Hills (0-5) and has shown little promise in three starts over hurdles for Rebecca Menzies; the faintest of faint hopes are pinned on wind surgery proving beneficial.
Forecasts
Lucky Lover Boy (10/11), Romeo Brown (4/1), Siannes Star (9/2), Senor Lombardy (12/1), Golden Town (12/1), Cool Possibility (16/1), Seaborough (16/1), Oak Vintage (40/1)
Siannes Star seeks a hat-trick on his return from a 278-day absence with race-fitness taken solely on trust, while the frustrating (yet perfectly able) Senor Lombardy continues to disappoint for Keith Dalgleish. Therefore, the most obvious alternative is the recent Flat C&D winner LUCKY LOVER BOY who has performed admirably well across both codes (2211194P1) since joining Oliver Greenall for 14,000gns in October 2018.
- Lucky Lover Boy
- Senor Lombardy
- Siannes Star
