Consistent chaser with a decent win record (8-31); was returning from a short absence when finishing second to Lastin' Memories at Kelso (2m1f, soft) last month; may struggle here.
Bought for £105,000 as a winner of a 3m maiden at Aghabulloge (good to yielding); weakened quickly when a beaten evens-favourite on rules/stable debut in a Sedgefield novices' hurdle (2m1f, soft).
Has left Gordon Elliott (still in the same ownership) since finishing fourth of 11 (beaten 23L) in a 2m1f Sedgefield maiden hurdle; hood applied on debut for Keith Dalgleish.
Runner-up in three of his four bumper starts; drew clear from a Nicky Henderson-trained runner when making a winning hurdles debut at Catterick (2m3½f, soft) four weeks ago.
Pulled-up (jumped poorly throughout) in both starts over hurdles; prior to that had finished last of twelve in an Ayr bumper; makes no appeal whatsoever.
Fast ground Ludlow bumper winner (October 2018); has acquitted herself well in defeat in stronger races since (Listed/Grade 2); off since finishing in the ruck at Aintree (2m1f, soft) last April; of interest in this company.
Jumped poorly when struggling at odds of 250-1 on hurdles debut at Kelso (2m5f, soft) 25 days ago; switched to the Flat wearing a newly applied tongue-tie; simply isn't the solution.
Eight race maiden who has shown glimmers of minor ability (basically is a low-grade handicapper); unlikely to figure prominently against such opponents on unfavourable terms.
Al Namix filly; won on her second start at Argentan (France) last June; has since joined JP McManus and makes her GB debut at a realistic level for the Ledbury trainer Tom Lacey (6-13; 46% at Newcastle); major player.
Forecasts
Show Promise (6/4), Mrs Hyde (15/8), Ginflix (4/1), Presentandcounting (9/1), Shaws Bridge (14/1), Halcyon Days (33/1), Sweet Flora (100/1), St Basil (250/1), Sutton Way (250/1)
Fergal O'Brien seeks to take advantage of an unexpected opportunity in a 'bumper' with the returning Mrs Hyde. On bare form she sets the standard for the others to aim towards but it's a slight concern that she has been absent from the track for 323 days. On the other hand, the winning hurdler Show Promise has race fitness on his side, and has also finished runner-up on three previous occasions in bumpers. However, in receipt of plenty of weight (four-year-old's allowance) from the remainder, we'll chance the JP McManus-owned French import GINFLIX for a trainer with an exceptional strike-rate at Gosforth Park (6-13; 46%)
