Four-race maiden but making some steady progress. Showed some spark when never nearer fourth at Kempton (1m) in December. Makes first start for this yard with slightly more needed.

5/1
Poor debut but showed likeable form in two starts since, including close third of 12 at Wolverhampton (1m) in December. Workable handicap mark and strong claims on debut in this company.

River Song26
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-7| J: Hollie Doyle| T: A Watson| OR:  70| D
4/1
Broke maiden status on second attempt at Lingfield but folded tamely when having the run of the race at that venue (1m) last month. Likely to force the pace but will need improvement.

Looked to become exposed but turned form around considerably with two wins on the bounce, including career-best victory at Wolverhampton (1m) last time. Up 4lb but no reason why he can't improve again.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-4| J: Luke Catton(7)| T: R Hannon| OR:  67
10/1
Thrice-raced maiden who started to become regressive over the summer of 2019, including when fifth of six at Chepstow (7f) in September. Not seen since and needs a sizeable step up on previous form.

Thomas Lanfiere19
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-5| J: George Rooke(7)| T: D M Simcock| OR:  54
3/1
Lightly-raced maiden who had been well-beaten on his first four starts but showed some signs of ability when third of six at Lingfield (7f) at the start of the month. Claims if being able to build on that.

Forecasts

Rulers Kingdom (2/1), Thomas Lanfiere (3/1), River Song (4/1), Schmoozie (5/1), Fleet Street (8/1), Kodiellen (10/1)

Verdict

RULERS KINGDOM looks to have finally found his gears at the turn of the year and showed impressive staying ability last time out. The hike in the handicap may be lenient in hindsight and there is likely to be much more progression to come now. Schmoozie has begun to get her act together in her latest two starts and should be suited by this small field and may be given a chance by the handicapper, while Thomas Lanfiere is of interest off bottom weight and should be closer as long as he doesn't blow the start once again.
  1. Rulers Kingdom
  2. Schmoozie
  3. Thomas Lanfiere
