A grand servant (14-111, including 10-58 on the AW); narrow C&D winner four starts ago and twice runner-up at Wolverhampton (7f) since. Disappointed here on Tuesday over 7f and busy schedule maybe catching up with him (sixth run in four weeks).

Sent off favourite (5/2) over 1m here two runs back but was tailed off after being too keen. Ran a little better at Wolverhampton (7f) last time when seventh of 10 but needs to up his game again to get involved; 3lb below his last win.

Well beaten on debut, but well backed and improved when fourth of nine at Lingfield (1m) on his second start. Ran to a similar level with fifth at Kempton (1m) three weeks ago and makes his handicap debut dropped to 6f. Fair opening mark.

Started his career promisingly with Rebecca Menzies, including a 1m novice win here in November 2018. Dropped 14lb since entering handicaps but little sign of a return to form as yet. Will find his form at some point but others preferred for now.

Dual winner as a juvenile for Mark Johnston (6f/7f) including on the AW at Kempton. Dropped 21lb with that yard in 2019 with only glimmers of spark. Makes stable debut after 9,000 gns purchase but yard having a quiet time.

Losing streak now at 17 but showed signs of coming back to his best form when second at Pontefract (6f) in July. Hampered on his return at Wolverhampton (6f) and easy enough to overlook his first encounter with Fibresand last time. Place claims.

Showed plenty when beaten 1½L on C&D debut in November before failing to handle the Fibresand at Southwell. Won comfortable returned to this C&D last time by 3¼L and looks to have been fairly treated for his handicap debut. Big player.

Won off 5lb lower at Kempton (7f) in December and finished third, beaten a neck, shortly after at Wolverhampton (7f). Left Mick Appleby and wasn't in the same form dropped to 6f on stable debut last time and questions to answer as a result.

Ran three good races here at the end of last year, culminating in a 1½L win over C&D last time. Up 4lb but stayed on strongly and should be in the mix if returning from a 59-day break in the same form.

Was on the verge of becoming frustrating until winning a weak 7f handicap here in September. Up 7lb for a 3L win was enough to prevent him following-up and may need to drop a few pounds and a return to Class 6 company to be seen at his best.

6f Listed winner as a juvenile whose official rating peaked at 101. Plummeted in the weights with two previous yards but was only beaten on short head on stable debut here (6f) recently. Absolutely thrown-in if building on that.

Verdict

Interesting little contest with handicap debutants REDESDALE REBEL and Smoke On The Water likely to be involved. Preference is for the former who won well over C&D last time and looks to have been given a fair opening mark. De Bruyne Horse showed some old spark when touched off over C&D on his first run for this yard recently and is extremely well handicapped if being able to build on that effort.
  1. Redesdale Rebel
  2. De Bruyne Horse
  3. Smoke On The Water
