On a long losing run dating back to 2017 but showed more spark on her Fibresand debut last time over 6f (usually runs over further). Better than the bare result she reportedly finished lame; one to keep in mind despite the return to 1m.
Went better than of late without headgear last time although she still couldn't break her long losing sequence. Showed little on her previous Fibresand outing (out of sorts at the time); worth another chance here but may need further.
Five-time C&D winner who is just 1lb above his last winning mark obtained last September (beat a modest field in this grade). Ran respectably last time out over 7f here when looking a little one-paced; return to 1m will suit.
Well-fancied here last time over 7f he wasn't seen to best effect (raced too freely). Fair while now since his sole career win (over C&D) he remains capable of winning a race like this especially back up in trip; type that needs everything to go righ
Three-time C&D winner scoring two of those victories in a lesser grade back-to-back either side of the New Year. Failed to complete the hat-trick last time moved up in grade off this mark; faces another rise in class here; others appeal more.
Penalised 5lb for his 7f course win last time when making his Fibresand debut (2lb well-in under the penalty). That was his best effort for some time under an amateur rider returning from a break; not sure to be in the same form this time.
Forecasts
Three C's (15/8), Equidae (5/2), Crazy Spin (5/1), Double Reflection (6/1), Muqarred (15/2), Chiavari (12/1)
A tricky opener to the card where all can be given a chance but by the same token they all have a question mark over their chances. A chance is taken with topweight CHIAVARI who looks to be in better form since returning from a wind op and ran well on her debut on this surface last time. She should be effective back over 1m stepping up from 6f and the cheekpieces (first-time) should eke out some more progress. Three C’s will be the obvious danger for many and he’s well-in under his penalty for last week’s decisive win but he’s never been the most consistent and taking a short price about him may not be the best option. Muqarred and Double Reflection are respected of the others.
- Chiavari
- Three C's
- Muqarred
