Winning 2m3f maiden hurdler made fair chase bow when second at Doncaster last month. Straight into a handicap and saddled with top weight but is far less exposed than his rivals and could prove dangerous.

Progressing well this term winning 2-4 over fences and and stayed on stongly last time at Carlisle in November. 8lb higher now but certainly not out of the reckoning given form prior to three-month break.

Returned from 11-month break when appeared to run creditably for a long way over C&D in December before tiring after 3 out. Has won over C&D in past and performed at much higher level three years ago but has to prove he still retains ability.

Won chase in France in 2016. Restricted to just six race in three years since for current handler. Pulled up at Kelso in December when made favourite despite nine-month absence. Let supporters down last three starts and proving expensive to follow.

Off the mark last time at the 11th time of asking but did it well when bolting up by 16 lengths in Huntingdon 2m4f h'cap chase eight days ago. Carries 7lb penalty and has strong claims if recovered from his exertions.

Verdict

Being less exposed than his rivals, top weight SENIOR CITIZEN is fancied to go one better than his promising chasing bow at Doncaster last month. Both Rizzardo and Pookie Pekan won in good style last time, the former scoring comfortably last week. He goes again quickly under a penalty before being reassessed, while the latter has been on an upward curve all term. Commis D'Office has promised to land a race more than once but failed to deliver. He may still prove a danger though if putting his best foot forward.
