Picked up the fourth success of his career at Uttoxeter in December, and looked to sure to add to that tally until caught close home at Fontwell (2¾m) last time. Consistency means he must be high on the shortlist, even if this trip is a bit sharp.
Disappointing in three starts in the autumn with stable out of sorts, but much more like it when 4½L second of 8 to Valence d'Aumont at Sedgefield nine days ago. Good chance if he can build on that.
Was in the process of running respectably when falling at Ludlow on her return, but well held on latest chase outing, and record in this sphere is not encouraging.
Standout effort this term when second over 3m1f at Wincanton in October, but below that form since, markedly so at Fontwell last time when tongue tied. Drops markedly in trip, and makes limited appeal.
Won at Huntingdon last season, but he's been struggling for form of late, and beaten 24L off this mark at that track a week ago.
Best effort over fences when 8½L third on heavy ground at Lingfield behind Bridle Loanan last month, but below that form at Plumpton latest. May yet do better, but needs to show he can build on early promise.
Poor hurdler who finished fourth of 6 to Agent Westy in a 2m5f novice handicap at Fakenham on chase debut. Stamin stretched there, and could well do better back in trip now, so not easy to rule him out.
Outran 50/1 odds when second in a 2m handicap chase at Warwick on New Year's Eve, but he could finish only sixth at Chepstow last time, and more is required here.
Won a weak handicap at Stratford in October, but beaten off higher marks since, and has to race from 5lb out of the handicap here, which doesn't help his cause.
Forecasts
Vocaliser (7/4), Lickpenny Larry (5/1), Clondaw Robin (5/1), Gold Fields (11/2), Torrent Des Mottes (10/1), Dun Bay Creek (14/1), Hope's Wishes (25/1), This Breac (28/1), St Merryn (33/1)
The drop to 2m is a concern for the consistent Lickpenny Larry, and while he should run well VOCALISER, second at Sedgefield last time, is preferred for win purposes. Gold Fields may not have stayed on his chase debut, and has place claims dropping back in trip now.
- Vocaliser
- Lickpenny Larry
- Gold Fields
