Highly tried (in AW Championships FTQ's) of late; split Good Effort and the thriving Hareem Queen at Newcastle (5f) in early January; runner-up over C&D (off this mark; 100) on his last handicap start; stablemate of Street Parade.

8/1
Ageing, yet has enjoyed a successful season on the AW winning back-to-back races at Newcastle & Lingfield (5f); high in the weights from his revised mark, and shouldn't trouble Royal Birth on the basis of more recent Newcastle form.

Three-time turf winner, most latterly at Windsor (5f, good to firm) in May; kept on (finished just in front of Watchable) without ever threatening his stablemate Tawny Port at Chelmsford (5f) five weeks ago; trainer/owner also saddle Royal Birth.

Canford Bayh20
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-4| J: Cam Hardie| T: A Brittain| OR:  83| CD
7/2
Has held his form incredibly well on the AW this winter; right at the top of his game when pushed out to beat Foxy Forever in a Class 4 C&D handicap three weeks ago (5-2f); 4lb higher in a more competitive race.

Forecasts

Royal Birth (2/1), Street Parade (7/2), Acclaim The Nation (7/2), Canford Bay (7/2), Watchable (8/1)

Verdict

A small but select field. The Stuart Williams/Tom Morley combination are doubly represented with Street Parade and ROYAL BIRTH. The former being closely matched with Watchable on recent Chelmsford form. However, a strong preference is for the latter who has been highly tried in various AW Championship FTQ's. A repeat of his fine effort at Newcastle in early January (split Good Effort and Hareem Queen) ought to prove more than good enough. The admirable Canford Bay and Acclaim The Nation must raise their respective games now upped-in-grade to a Class 2 handicap.
  1. Royal Birth
  2. Street Parade
  3. Canford Bay
