High-class chaser whose remarkable winning sequence over obstacles was brought to an end at Ascot last time. Given time to recover from those exploits; won the last two runnings of this race, ought to get back to winning ways.
Smart handicap chaser (often come up just short in top-end handicaps) who recorded a career-best effort when taking a Kempton Grade 2 last time. Faces a stiff task here at the weights but deserves another crack at this company.
High-class chaser who has won at this level before and has proved himself in Grade 1 company. Third to Altior in last year's Champion Chase he travelled well on his latest outing but came up short behind Bun Doran; another sound run expected.
Veteran chaser who has been capable of some very smart form in the past. Turned in a rare poor effort when last seen at Leopardstown In a Grade 1 that he had won for the last two years; likely to find this a little too hot.
Already better over fences than he was over hurdles going 4-5 over fences in Grade 1 and 2 novice company. Jumped and travelled well when last seen at Doncaster; has work to do at the weights but still progressing.
The Betfair Hurdle winner two years ago his chasing career hasn't quite reached the heights that were expected. A Grade 1 winner at Aintree last spring over 2m4f, this will be his first run at 2m since unseating in last year's Arkle.
Forecasts
Altior (1/3), Kalashnikov (5/1), Sceau Royal (9/1), Dynamite Dollars (12/1), Bun Doran (20/1), Simply Ned (50/1)
The winner of the last two runnings of this Grade 2 it looks this time around to be the perfect opportunity for ALTIOR to bounce back to winning ways. Far from disgraced at Ascot last time this will be his second run back from a wind op and on ratings he has nearly a stone in hand of this field. Sceau Royal has seen the back of Altior on a fair few occasions and he may well be the one to bustle up the Henderson runner again reversing form with Bun Doran from their Kempton meeting. Of the younger brigade Dynamite Dollars is preferred to Kalashnikov with the former still looking as though he is worthy of a higher rating although this will be his toughest test to date.
- Altior
- Sceau Royal
- Dynamite Dollars
