Won for the second time over fences when landing a Fairyhouse 2m1f handicap chase on yielding/soft ground at the end of last month off a 6lb lower mark. Life more difficult fro revised rating.
Ended a quite long losing run when opening his account over fences at Cork at the ninth time of asking for connections in April. Well held and no impression in four starts since but worth a check in the market with yard hitting form.
Showed some promise when a well beaten second in chase at Punchestown in December before a fall at Leopardstown over Christmas was followed by an encouraging third of 11 at Fairyhouse last month. First time cheekpieces could trigger improvement.
Hasn't improved as hoped following a win in a novice chase over 2m1f at Limerick over Christmas. Beaten favourite on latest start last month and appears to have plenty to prove in this contest.
Winner on a couple of occasions at this venue over hurdles but is yet to hit the frame in six starts over fences including failing to complete on both handicap starts to date. Requires plenty of improvement.
Experienced winner of three of his 24 starts over the larger obstacles. Running with plenty of credit in defeat in a number of starts since September but the handicapper still looks to have the upper hand.
Was successful over fences at Tramore over 2m in his novice campaign in January 2018. May need some relief from the handicapper before coming in for further consideration.
Has completely lost his way since landing a Fairyhouse hunter chase in February 2018 in four dismal efforts since. Hard to make a case for.

Valdieu (3/1), Beyond The Law (3/1), Spades Are Trumps (4/1), Velocity Boy (5/1), Halsafari (6/1), Red Jack (7/1), Mount Hanover (7/1), Peculiar Genius (8/1), Fine Rightly (10/1), Seskin Flyer (14/1), Out Of The Loop (16/1), Allannahs Gold (20/1)
Beaten favourite last time out HALSAFARI is clearly better than his run at Fairyhouse last month suggests and can get back to winning ways in this contest. The Michael Bowe-trained gelding can get the better of distance winner, Seskin Flyer and the Mouse Morris-trained Beyond The Law. Mount Hanover has been running with credit recently and the Gigginstown House Stud-owned Valdieu in first-time cheekpieces should not be taken lightly in the opener.
