Excellent last season for this yard winning on his debut and finishing a good second in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham. Started this season well before running poorly returning from a break/wind op last time; cheekpieces now on first-time.
Started this season well when landing a small-field handicap chase at Fakenham before failing to cope with the National fences in the Grand Sefton. Back to form over conventional fences over C&D last time; fair chance off same mark.
Progressive sort who won his first two chase starts in late-2018; picked up where he left off returning from a 13-month absence with a good second at Aintree. Failed to lead last time at Musselburgh and ran badly; type to bounce back.
Out-and-out front runner who won an Ascot handicap off a 1lb lower mark last March. Failed to find his form this season though pulling up over C&D when last seen; looks to have problems that need solving.
Fair chaser at best who has had three wind ops winning at Leicester after the second just over a year ago off a 6lb lower mark. Had more wind surgery since than; back to form with a positive display at Ludlow last time; has to build on that.
Failed to go on and build on his return win this season when he scored at Warwick taking advantage of a much-reduced mark. Appears to have regressed since then and was beaten a long way over C&D last time; hard to recommend.
Useful hurdler who improved on his form in that sphere to win on his chasing debut although he was rather fortunate (left clear at the last). Ran poorly when bidding to follow up struggling as badly as his stable has for most of this season.
Useful hurdler who returned from a long absence to show promise on his chasing debut at Sandown (2m4f) although his jumping wasn't without blemishes. Well backed over the same C&D last time his jumping left him down again; comes with risks.
All in all his record over fences is rather disappointing for one who has shown some fairly useful form over hurdles. Far from fluent over fences at Ludlow last time he would need to jump a lot better here over tougher obstacles to be of interest.
Has a good strike-rate over fences (5-7) but all of those wins have come in a lower grade than he faces today. Gave it a good go in 0-130 company last time but appeared held by the 10lb hike for his last win; improvement needed.
Hard to fault his consistency with his latest placing on his penultimate start producing a career-best at Sandown. Fell first last time but should bounce back from that tumble and ought to be in contention here.
Forecasts
Touch Kick (9/4), Canelo (4/1), Kilfilum Cross (13/2), Boughtbeforelunch (9/1), Wicked Willy (9/1), Another Stowaway (10/1), Legal Eyes (12/1), Waikiki Waves (12/1), Vivas (16/1), Fixed Rate (20/1), Princeton Royale (50/1)
Another competitive handicap on the card with Touch Kick the one to set the standard having twice run well this year finishing a good second over C&D last time. His mark is unchanged for that run and the drying ground will suit him well – he looks a danger to all. Canelo needs to jump better to be effective in this and with Waikiki Waves looking harshly handicapped now it maybe that BOUGHTBEFORELUNCH can gain some well deserved compensation. A faller at the first last time his previous effort if repeated ought to be good enough to see him go close in this. Fixed Rate looks the type to bounce back but any competition for the lead may well hamper his chance once again.
- Boughtbeforelunch
- Touch Kick
- Canelo
