Won a decent looking maiden over C&D after a 76-day absence but disappointed (too keen) when stepped up in trip at Wolverhampton earlier this month. Dropped 1lb and respected back at this venue.
Has hit the crossbar on each of his three starts in novice company and only beaten a ½L last time at Wolverhampton when shaping like he would be suited by this step up in trip. Improvement likely on handicap debut here.
Still a maiden after seven starts and while he showed some promise in maiden/novice company early in his career, it was a poor effort on yard debut at Wolverhampton in October. Wears first-time tongue-tie and returns from an absence.
Landed a seller at Wolverhampton in October and made it back-to-back wins by landing a C&D handicap on debut for this yard in November. Couldn't follow up under a penalty but won one of his two starts since that effort and could go well back here.
Off the mark at the sixth attempt when debuting over this C&D earlier in the month. The third from that race has done the form no harm with a narrow defeat subsequently and he's only up 3lb for his recent success; should go well again.
Seemed to find some form when switched to AW in the autumn but he's still a maiden after eight starts and gives the impression he will probably need more relief from the handicapper before he gets his head in front.
Shown very little in three starts in novice company including over C&D last time out when still showing signs of inexperience. May do better now handicapping and first-time blinkers could help.
Yet to win in her six starts but it was a return to form when fourth behind Barking Mad last time. Hard to see her reversing that form, despite arriving better off at the weights.
Forecasts
Shine On Brendan (2/1), London Calling (11/4), Barking Mad (9/2), Phuket Power (6/1), Speed Merchant (11/1), Lethal Shadow (11/1), When Comes Here (25/1), Magic Twist (33/1)
PHUKET POWER is better than his effort last time out and warrants respect back at the scene of a course and distance success back in December. Barking Mad showed a good attitude to win here last time out and has to be considered the main danger. Shine On Brendan could go well up in trip on handicap debut.
- Phuket Power
- Barking Mad
- Shine On Brendan
