Irish point-to-point winner got off the mark over timber on third start at Sedgefield on Boxing Day, twice having finished runner-up over 2m and seemingly benefitting from longer trip. Should be more to come.

Made the frame in his last three stars in Irish maiden hurdles (2m½f-2m6f); should be capable of going well on first start for Tim Vaughan though probably needs to improve to get on the board.

Bumper winner here on debut in November on soft ground and runner-up since at Haydock behind another previous winner. Makes hurdles bow going up in distance and can have a say.

Regressive on the Flat, though did make pleasing start over timber when fourth at Kelso (2m, soft; 66-1) last month; not as good back there since and looks up against it in this field.
€125,000 purchase as a three-year-old and nicely bred; didn't live up to market expectations in pair of spring bumper runs but no shock if he leaves that behind now for representing red-hot trainer/jockey combo.
Showed some promise in point-to-points but tailed off in all three starts under rules, two of them over hurdles at Newcastle (2m4½f, soft). Plenty to work on.

Runner-up in three most recent of four starts in bumpers, including here last month. Up in trip for hurdles bow and could be further progress to come.
Down the field on debut in a bumper here last month and similar tale at Sedgefield on Boxing Day; needs significant step forward on hurdles bow going up in distance.

Forecasts

Evander (11/8), Kiriglote (5/2), O Connell Street (7/2), Show Promise (15/2), Judex Lefou (8/1), Mamdood (40/1), Our Getaway Girl (200/1), Shouldn't Be Here (250/1)

Verdict

Nicky Henderson doesn't send many to Catterick but he boasts a 3-7 record with previous runners here and, despite not living up to expectations in bumpers back in the spring, O Connell Street is greatly-respected now going over timber after a break/wind operation. Still, EVANDER was very good at Sedgefield on Boxing Day, attacking this longer trip and scoring nicely from the front and he might go in again. Hurdles debutante Show Promise is another worthy of note along with Irish import Judex Lefou for Tim Vaughan.

  2. O Connell Street
  3. Show Promise
