Fascinating contender as he makes stable/seasonal debut after being off the track for 1341 days. Formerly in the care of Sir Michael Stoute, and showed plenty of promise in three maidens for him. Handicap/AW debutante. Market should be informative.

Won/been placed in a higher grade than this over C&D in September/October. All his best efforts have came at this track, and he looked to be in need of a break when a well-beaten fourth at Southwell (1m4f; standard) in November. Goes well fresh.

Dual-purpose sort who is usually very consistent, but did run below-par over hurdles when last seen in November. Break may have done him good, and he could be well treated as he is 7lb below his last winning mark. Makes tapeta debut.

Inconsistent profile, but he hasn't been disgraced in two runs back from a break. C&D winner steps back up to 1m4f and he is only 2lb above his last winning mark. Doesn't look obvious that he will take advantage of that so place claims at best.

Eight-race maiden who steps up to 1m4f for the first time. Failed to show much improvement since switched to handicaps/making debut for this stable. Still lightly raced, so a market check is advised with him coming from this yard.

Tends to go well at this track, but this dual course winner was a little tame over C&D when sixth last week. Still 8lb above last winning mark, but this looks a bit less competitive than her most recent assignment. Others have less to prove.

Lopes Dancer (6/4), Sulafaat (3/1), Champagne Rules (6/1), Remember The Days (6/1), Madeeh (8/1), Superyacht (8/1)

Verdict

An interesting contest to open proceedings, with Superyacht a very lightly raced sort who makes his return to the track after almost four years off the track. He showed promise in maidens for his former stable, and could be chucked in off this mark. Working out how fit he is remains a guessing game though. Therefore, the safest option is to stick with LOPES DANCER who has been running in a slightly higher grade than this recently and he has an excellent record over this C&D. The 73-day break is of no concern, and he can regain the winning thread with his good record fresh an added plus. Remember The Days can chase the selection home as he makes his tapeta debut.
