Rediscovered the winning thread with a game short-head success (made all and jumped well) at Carlisle (3m2f, heavy) five weeks ago; 3lb higher in the weights; is fully effective at this track - beaten 2¼L (second) in this contest last year.
Went down fighting (pecked at the final fence) at Sedgefield (3m2½f, soft) on his penultimate start - just his second run over fences; turned in a laboured effort in a competitive Class 3 (novices' limited handicap chase) at Chepstow subsequently.
Bred for chasing as a brother to the 4m stayer Knockanrawley; disappointingly weak in the finish at Newcastle (2m7½f, soft) in late November; that form has worked out well; mildly interesting post wind surgery with trainer also in much better form.
Veteran; thrives on a test of stamina on soft/heavy ground; isn't the force of old but was clearly rejuvenated by first-time blinkers at Kelso (3m2f, soft) three weeks ago, beating Total Assets by 8L; feasibly weighted off a 6lb higher mark.
Decisive winner of the Buccleuch Cup at Kelso (3m2f, heavy) in April 2018; didn't race last season for Rose Dobbin before moving on to Nick Alexander; should strip fitter for stable/handicap debut fourth (beaten 42L) at Newcastle 38 days ago.
Lightly raced rules maiden (0-6); runner-up in two of his three starts over fences (both at Newcastle); was put soundly in his place by the fluent-fencing Capard King (Diamond Brig fourth) on soft ground 38 days ago.
With Evan Williams when winning a Ffos Las (3m, heavy) novices' hurdle in November 2017; sold cheaply (for £800) in December 2019; pulled-up on both starts for William Young Jnr and looks something off a lost cause; mark is easing.
Forecasts
Donna's Delight (2/1), Speak Of The Devil (4/1), Another Emotion (9/2), Diamond Brig (5/1), Teddy Tee (7/1), Samstown (15/2), Apollo Creed (40/1)
The 11-year-old TEDDY TEE carries plenty of weight for such testing conditions, but he certainly has the frame to cope admirably. Runner-up to Geronimo in this race 12 months ago, he rediscovered the winning thread with a game win at Carlisle (3m2f, heavy) five weeks ago. However, with Diamond Brig (unexposed under rules) and Donna's Delight (easing mark and wind surgery) both expected to perform significantly better than of late, and the rejuvenated Samstown once more sporting blinkers he won't necessarily have things all his own way in an intriguing contest.
- Teddy Tee
- Donna's Delight
- Samstown
