Backed to win a Mares' handicap hurdle at Southwell on heavy ground last month and ran well enough at Exeter (2m2½f, soft; 11-4) on New Year's Day in finishing fourth of six. Mark unchanged and stay this far.

Dual bumper runner and placed on six of her nine hurdles starts to date. Showed good form when runner-up off a mark of 120 over an extended 2m7f here (soft) in November and is one for the shortlist in first-time cheekpieces.

Made a winning return to action after five months off when winning over hurdles at Fontwell, seeing out the 2m6f well. Form in two starts since, including latest over fences has failed to match that level; something to prove now back over timber.

Has won three of her last five starts, including by 7L at Fontwell (2m5½f, soft; 5-1) on Boxing Day. Up in grade from 7lb higher mark now but clearly in good heart and likely to give a solid account.

Four-time winner over hurdles, including on heavy going, but poor on sole previous outing at this venue and 2-3 runs this season have been disappointing; needs to put best foot forward.

Three hurdles wins in 2018, though missed a year after below-par Taunton run in December of that year and understandably looked in need of the run back in same race last month. Eased 1lb and far from certain we've seen her best stuff yet.

Hadn't shown much in two starts this season prior to winning at Exeter (2m2½f, soft; 12-1) on New Year's Day under this claiming rider; has only gone up 3lb for that success and no concerns over longer trip if in same mood today.

All three hurdles runs so far have come at Exeter over 2m2½f on heavy ground, most recent of them was more encouraging (fifth, beaten 16½L) but still plenty more demanded to get on the board.

Forecasts

Just A Thought (2/1), Pink Legend (10/3), Runasimi River (6/1), Daytime Ahead (6/1), Queen Of The Wind (8/1), Skewiff (14/1), She's Gina (14/1), Dorrana (16/1)

Verdict

DAYTIME AHEAD seemingly turned a corner at Exeter on New Year's Day and a 3lb rise in the ratings is far from insurmountable if in the same mood today. Just A Thought perhaps didn't get home here in November and should go well in the new headgear coming down in distance while Pink Legend can also get involved and there could be more to come from Queen Of The Wind after a pipe-opener at Taunton following a year out.
