Lone win came here over C&D and ran second at the course subsequently. Getting closer in handicaps when last seen with three seconds including near miss at Wolverhampton. If in same vein of form after a break should go close.

Very lightly raced five-year-old entire landed a bit of a touch when scooting in in a C&D novice latest. This undoubtedly a weaker race but open to any amount of improvement so has to be respected.

Built on some promising placed efforts when winning by a neck over an extended 5f at Brighton (good-to-firm) in August. Finished in midfield next twice but interesting now given he won on his only previous visit to this track.

Ran poorly on stable debut but second start for the yard latest and first here was a much more pleasing effort when second albeit beaten 4L by Zapper Cass. Ought to make his presence felt again.

Irish trained filly landed the spoils on her first visit here latest winning a C&D handicap by 1¼L. Only upped 1lb so another bold bid expected in what is a very competitive if small field handicap.

Seven-year-old having a grand time of it in winning three times since October, two of those over C&D. Sound efforts in defeat the last twice too so hard to see him not being competitive even though he's hardly well handicapped.

Forecasts

National Anthem (11/8), Young Tiger (11/4), Mulzim (6/1), My Excelsa (7/1), Big Time Maybe (8/1), Scale Force (10/1)

Verdict

A really interesting little handicap this and a case can be made for all six of the runners. The vote goes to completely unexposed NATIONAL ANTHEM who has managed just three starts in as many years.; all of them for different trainers. In his first start for David Brown he landed quite a touch in making all by 4L and on the back of that effort he could easily be well treated off a mark of 75. Recent C&D scorer My Excelsa looks a big danger having only gone up 1lb for what was a comfortable success while Big Time Maybe's 100 per cent strike rate here brings him into the equation too.
  1. National Anthem
  2. My Excelsa
  3. Big Time Maybe
