His sole success so far came over hurdles at Fairyhouse (2m) last February; has been well held on his completed appearances over fences this season often let down by his jumping.
Has ability over fences evidenced by a useful performance at Thurles in November; slightly disappointing earlier this month at Fairyhouse and has a point to prove at present.
Hard to make a case for following a couple of dismal chasing efforts in November beaten 64L and 48L; needs to bounce back in a big way to have a say in this contest.
Still without a success in 18 starts over the larger obstacles with the Authorized gelding having little or no luck in a number of starts since September; could be on a decent mark based on Newcastle run in November.
Was in fine form last Spring but has not had the best of luck on his last two starts (slipped up here and fell early last time out at Leopardstown; excellent chance if back to form but needs better fortune.
Pulled up on latest chase start at Hexham after completing a hat-trick of wins previously; back to form over hurdles last time and looks to have a great chance.
Generally consistent chaser/hurdler who wins his fair share of races; needs to bounce back from disappointing run last time out at Leopardstown but starting to look well handicapped.
Winner of two of his 14 starts over fences; well held in a number of starts at the end of last season and on return to action at Naas last month; plenty to find.
Three from 33 over fences the veteran has ran with plenty of credit in a number of starts over fences in the last month including finishing fifth of 15 beaten 17L at Limerick; needs a few to falter but not without a chance.
Forecasts
Roxboro Road (13/8), Chavi Artist (11/2), Flynsini (6/1), Well Joey (7/1), Persian Wind (9/1), Lacken Bridge (10/1), My Manekineko (12/1), Ard Na Carraig (16/1), Archer's Up (18/1)
WELL JOEY notched up a hat-trick over fences last year between March and September before pulling up on his final start before a break in October. He showed his well being with a fair performance over hurdles recently at Down Royal and may prove too good for these rivals. Persian Wind was disappointing last time out but if back to his best form then he could give the selection most to do. Flynsini showed he still has relish for chasing when running very well recently at Limerick. With some luck, he has excellent each-way claims at the very least.
- Well Joey
- Persian Wind
- Flynsini
