Cost £150,000 in December 2018; lost his unbeaten record in the Grade 2 Winter Novices' Hurdle at Sandown (2m4f, soft) in early December; returns to much calmer waters seeking to build upon an earlier 12L Carlisle win (2m4f, good to soft).

1/1
Cost £50,000 in April 2018; marked improvement when springing a 40-1 surprise in the French Furze Novices' Hurdle here (2m6f, heavy) five weeks ago; that form was handsomely franked by the runner-up Imperial Alcazar at Cheltenham on New Year's Day.
Low-key under rules (0-2) since joining Sue Smith for £8,500 in September 2018; can't realistically be expected to trouble either Overthetop or Prince Kayf.

Horse silk
150/1
Joined David Thompson for £6,000 in August 2019; was tailed-off (66-1) on hurdles debut over C&D (soft) a fortnight ago; highly unlikely to be competitive.
5
Horse silk
66/1
Waky Nao mare; ran three times without excelling in Scottish point-to-points for owner Christopher Lynn; is surely well out of her comfort zone on rules/stable and hurdles debut.
6
Horse silk
250/1
Half-sister to a couple of winners, including the 2m3f-3m hurdler The Wee Midget; jumped poorly when sent off at odds of 100-1 on hurdles debut at Sedgefield (2m4f, soft) on Boxing Day.

Forecasts

Overthetop (10/11), Prince Kayf (1/1), Bear That N Mind (28/1), Atlantic Dancer (66/1), Shouldn't Be Here (150/1), Black Opium (250/1)

Verdict

Effectively a straight match between Overthetop and the French Furze Novices' Hurdle winner PRINCE KAYF. Olly Murphy's Flemensfirth gelding has his sights lowered to a more realistic level after struggling to make his mark in the Grade 2 Winter Novices' Hurdle at Sandown, but a ready preference is for the Keith Dalgleish-trained runner. He travelled supremely well (before clouting the final flight) when edging out the promising Imperial Alcazar and Espoir De Romay here (2m6f) five weeks ago, with that form given a direct boost by the runner-up scoring at Cheltenham on New Year's Day.
  1. Prince Kayf
  2. Overthetop
  3. Bear That N Mind
