Eight-race maiden well held when never a factor in a number of career starts over the larger obstacles since August well held on each occasion. Appears to have a mountain to climb despite first-time cheekpieces.

Off the mark for connections at the third time of asking over the larger obstacles when landing a Galway handicap in September. Beaten in a couple of starts since but was travelling well before unseating two out at Fairyhouse in November. Big chance

Won for the second time over fences when landing a seven-runner handicap over C&D off a 7lb lower mark on heavy ground last month. Weight rise far from certain to stop a big effort in this contest.

Has failed to get involved in four career chase starts over a variety of trips including a dismal effort on his latest start to finish last of 14 at Fairyhouse last month. Will need to raise overall profile to play a role in the finish.

Point-to-point winner in the spring but well held in a number of hunter and mares' chases under rules. Needs a chunk of improvement to play a part in the finish.

Eight-race maiden over fences but posted a career best effort over hurdles at Fairyhouse last month to finish fourth of 13 beaten over 10L on heavy ground. Market likely to be the best guide on return over the larger obstacles.

Lightly raced gelding this year only seen on the one occasion since landing the spoils in this contest 12 months ago off a 5lb lower mark. Has a long absence to overcome but has a notable pilot booked and capable of regaining his crown.

Winner of four of his 36 starts over fences but the daughter of Mountain High has been bereft of any form since winning at this venue in May. Best watched unless the market indicates otherwise.

Forecasts

Wake Up Early (9/4), Highest Benefit (4/1), Whats In It For Me (4/1), Captain Cruiser (4/1), Lacken Bridge (7/1), Flynsini (7/1), Rock On Aussie (8/1), Kilderry Prince (9/1), Shanklys Dawn (12/1), Misty Adage (16/1)

Verdict

Kilderry Prince landed the spoils in this contest 12 months ago but the veterans lack of time on the track may be his downfall as he goes for two in a row. The J P McManus-owned WAKE UP EARLY can land the closing race following a slight hiccup at Fairyhouse when last seen in November when still travelling well before unseating two out. The six-year-old can set the record straight in this contest at the expense of C&D Highest Benefit and top weight Lacken Bridge who could prove a big danger stepping up in trip where the nine-year-old has won over C&D. What's In It For Me and Flynsini, behind Cappacurry Zak at Limerick on Friday can give a good account of themselves.
  1. Wake Up Early
  2. Highest Benefit
  3. Lacken Bridge
