Unexposed filly who came good against her own sex in a maiden over C&D last time. Initial mark just a little on the stiff side for this nursery debut, but that latest success entitles her to consideration.
3-6 on AW, and has proved himself versatile by notching those three wins on different surfaces. Up 4lb for the latest of them, which came on Southwell's Fibresand, but still had a bit up his sleeve and should go close again.
Yet to break her duck, but has run well a couple of times in defeat. Interesting that her trainer takes the nursery plunge here after a 3lb drop, having not been tempted so far. Step up in trip looks positive. Should be thereabouts.
Improved with each of his three runs, but has yet to get involved. Initial mark looks stiff on what we have seen, so probably best watched unless the market speaks particularly positively.
Showed promise on her debut at Ascot (6f) in September, but some way below that on two subsequent starts. Couldn't write her off from this initial handicap mark if in the form of that debut, but has that to prove.
Glimpses of ability in maiden company, but improved on her nursery debut at Chepstow last time, when staying on to be a short-head second (1m). Returns from a break for AW debut. Up 2lb, but no reason why she can't kick on.
Has made a bit of improvement on her last two starts, being second in a seller over C&D last month, though well held in a fillies' novice event last time. More needed on nursery debut.
Forecasts
Island Hideaway (11/8), St Just (7/2), Speed Merchant (9/2), Today Power (11/2), Secret Smile (12/1), Queen Of Silca (16/1), Saracen Star (25/1)
Secret Smile, Today Power and Island Hideaway all look capable of making their presence felt in this, but preference is for SPEED MERCHANT, who is improving himself and taken to back up his Southwell success.
