Former French racer (G.Macaire); not faultless, but off the mark over fences under an enterprising ride from Daryl Jacob at Sedgefield (2m½f, soft) last month; 6lb higher in the weights.
Haydock hurdle form figures read 1515 and he has no qualms whatsoever with hock deep ground; well held by the free-racing Rose Sea Has on chasing debut at Sedgefield (2m½f, soft) - fell at the final fence; does tick many boxes though.
Made a promising start to his career over fences last season, which included a 3L win at Newbury (2m½f, soft) before a tendency to over-race early doors thwarted his progress; runner-up over hurdles at Plumpton (2m, heavy) 47 days ago.
Regularly placed since winning a 2m1f maiden hurdle at Exeter (good to soft) in January; was unfortunate to clash with Champagne Court on chasing debut at Plumpton (2m4f, soft); ample scope for improvement in his fencing technique.
Unseated his rider at the first fence in this race last year but does appreciate the Lancashire air (and mud) on the whole, as best demonstrated by his 2017 race win; feasibly handicapped yet far from the easiest of horses to predict.

Forecasts
Chambard (9/4), Rose Sea Has (9/4), Sir Egbert (5/2), Joke Dancer (11/2), Musical Slave (8/1), Ubaltique (14/1)
With a strong possibility that the Sedgefield winner Rose Sea Has and the free-running Sir Egbert will be drawn into an early tussle for the lead, there could be some very tired horses come the finish. Chambard has ample scope for brushing up his jumping technique, although granted a clear round of fencing should be on the premises, while the Haydock regular Ubaltique is somewhat of an in-and-out performer. For small-stakes the suggested approach is an each-way play at Sue Smith's JOKE DANCER who admittedly has plenty to find with Rose Sea Has on Sedgefield form but does tick plenty of boxes on a hock deep racing surface (hurdles) at Haydock Park.
- Joke Dancer
- Chambard
- Rose Sea Has
