Largely disappointing this year, and although he got back to winning ways in a 2m seller here last time, that's hardly proof that he's turned the corner. That said, this is not a strong race for the grade, so he can't be ignored under a penalty.

Tried in cheekpieces, and built on earlier promise when beating Cheng Gong over 1m4f here at the weekend. Penalty makes his task harder, but he still has obvious claims on form.

Still a maiden, but he's found his level of late, and better than the result when 3¾L fifth of 12 to Hooflepuff over 1m4f here last time. Should go well having shaped with conspicuous promise at Kempton prior to that.

Runner-up over 1m4f here in October, and not ruled out on that evidence, but he's made little impact in two starts over further since, and others are more appealing again.

Exposed maiden, went close here in October but hasn't built on that in further runs at Kempton and back here; left with something to prove again.

Failed to beat a rival on latest Flat start over C&D in May, and two abject displays over hurdles since do not inspire confidence, for all a subsequent break may have done her some good.

Lost his way in the spring, and only limited encouragement to take from a couple of runs since returning from a break, albeit not seen to best effect when sixth of 13 to Uncle Bernie at Lingfield last time.

Form is rather in and out, but he wasn't entirely discredited when fifth of 13 to Uncle Bernie in an amateurs event at Lingfield last time, and he has slipped to a fair mark, so can have no excuses now.

Boasts little in the way of solid form, and was soundly beaten returning from a break at Lingfield earlier in the month. Hard to support, even if that run was needed.

Has failed to trouble the judge this year, although has largely been keeping better company than this, so not a total surprise to see her fare better here. Market useful.

Placed twice over hurdles at Worcester in August/September, but well held the last twice, and a long time since she's shown her form in this sphere.

Forecasts

Enmeshing (2/1), Tulane (7/2), Doctor Jazz (5/1), Lyford (8/1), Butterfield (17/2), Cape Agulhas (10/1), Fool To Cry (16/1), Wedding Photo (20/1), Petra's Pony (20/1), Earthly (25/1), Attain (33/1), Unsuspected Girl (66/1)

Verdict

Not the most competitive of handicaps, and TULANE may be able to shed his maiden tag up against a couple of penalised runners., the pick of whom is Enmeshing, a winner here on Saturday despite showing a tendency to hang. The race which Doctor Jazz won here last time was a weak affair, and he needs to build markedly on that form to follow up.
  1. Tulane
  2. Enmeshing
  3. Doctor Jazz
