Horse A-Z
Dual bumper winner (useful form) who has only had one hurdles outing finishing last of four at Ffos Las last time (wore first-time hood). Now given another chance over timber with a new headgear combination (has worn each piece separately before).

Refused to settle in a Chepstow bumper when making his debut looking very green (beat only one home). Not much better when tried over hurdles for the first time over a shorter trip here; jumped badly first then fell at the next.

£27,000 purchase after winning the second of his point-to-point starts at Easingwold. Showed very little on his bumper debut and achieved little more than that when last seen over hurdles; looks one for the longer term.

Offered little when wearing a tongue-tie for his debut and now returns for a second try over hurdles after a significant absence. Related to winners over hurdles but hard to make a case for given the length of time away from the track.

Unplaced in a point-to-point bumper before falling in his only race over obstacles in that sphere. Hinted at some ability on his Exeter hurdling debut but failed to progress from that outing when next seen at Taunton; made mistakes, best watched.

Form in his native France was better than he has shown for this yard in GB where he's struggled in two hurdles starts. Always behind at Ascot last time (beaten 55L); hard to make much of a case for him here.

Runner-up in the second of his two Irish point-to-points he made little impression on his Rules debut. Upped in trip (2m5f), equipped with a tongue-tie he showed a bit more at Ascot last time; not an easy sort to sum up at the moment.

Has run well in two Irish point-to-points finishing second on debut before going one better to take a Loughanmore maiden (favourite fell) in October. Now makes his Rules debut and one to take notice of if there are positive market vibes.

Took a fair fourth on his Worcester bumper debut before returning last month to start off over hurdles at Newbury. Showed some promise in that race to again finish fourth, looked after all the way round, should repay that kindness soon.

Cost €72,000 after scoring by 4L in a Brampton Bryan point-to-point, won by 4L. Looked as though he failed to get home on his hurdling debut at Exeter over 2m6f, stayed better next time, needs this run for a handicap mark.

Forecasts

Steal A March (10/11), Frisson Collonges (3/1), Enchancia (10/3), Mcgarry (7/2), The Composeur (12/1), A Book Of Intrigue (20/1), Ede'iffs Elton (25/1), Firenzo (33/1), Do It For Thy Sen (40/1), Arvico's Light (50/1), Downton Fox (50/1)

Verdict

Not a particularly strong novices’ hurdle and plenty of these will be better off in handicaps. STEAL A MARCH ran well enough last time at Newbury to be consider a leading contender for something like this and he’ll appreciate the step up in trip. Enchancia is probably the most interesting runner after winning his only point-to-point although he does have a long absence to cope with plus his yard are only just finding their feet again. Frisson Collonges has the potential to do a lot better than he has so far while another winner from between the flags – McGarry needs watching carefully in the market. The Composeur will be of more interest after this in handicaps.
  1. Steal A March
  2. Enchancia
  3. Frisson Collonges
