Expensive purchase who hasn't really lived up to expectations, but put in the best performance of career so far when runner-up at Kempton (1m) in late November. 5lb rise for that effort seems harsh.

Generally consistent without winning but started to put up some below-par performances in this company, including when sixth of eight at Wolverhampton (1m) last time out. Visor is now turned to.

Winner of handicap debut at Redcar (1m) in September but struggling off higher marks, including when 4L fourth at Pontefract (1m) in October. Career-best is probably required to land a winning blow.

Showing slight signs of promise in three starts to date in novice company and improved slightly when fifth at Wolverhampton (7f) on latest start. Mark is high enough for handicap debut.

Five-race maiden but improving with time. Put up best performance of career so far when narrowly beaten at Kempton (7f) last time and could still be well treated in this off 4lb higher mark.

Failed to go on since winning weak Nottingham novice earlier in the season and was last seen finishing last of seven in C&D nursery in November. Given a chance by handicapper with 5lb drop.

Best piece of form came when respectable third at this track (1m2f) two starts ago but subsequently disappointed when midfield in 1m2f maiden here once again. Back down in trip and well-treated on handicap debut.

Rulers Kingdom14

Yet to win in six runs and looked to have been improving in handicap company, including 1L sixth at Lingfield last time out (1m). May have more to offer off of this mark.

Age: 2|  Weight: 8-8| J: Sean Davis(3)| T: R A Fahey| OR:  62
16/1
Four-race maiden who struggled in novice company, but ran well enough on handicap debut when 2L eighth at Lingfield (7f) earlier this month. More needed but holds some place claims.

Forecasts

Breguet Boy (11/4), Penmellyn (7/2), Royal Nation (11/2), Foreshore (17/2), Genever Dragon (17/2), Rulers Kingdom (10/1), Three Dragons (10/1), Itwouldberudenotto (16/1), Big City (66/1)

Verdict

PENMELLYN may have yet to get off the mark in his career, however he caught the eye when staying on well to take second on the line at Kempton last time. The less stiff 1m should play to his strengths in this and he could be one step ahead of the handicapper. Rulers Kingdom can similarly have the same profile attached to him and he fared better than the result suggested last time (kept on well that day) while the likes of Royal Nation and Foreshore have largely disappointed but could have found an opportunity to kick-start their careers.
  1. Penmellyn
  2. Rulers Kingdom
  3. Royal Nation
